Turned out to be a really good race in the end. Cameron McConville's Super Cheap Auto entry didn't even start after blowing an engine on the warm-up lap. That car would have been right up there too. The race was really efficient with only a few cars retiring in the first 130 laps. Andrew Jones's car caught fire coming down Conrod Straight, Marcus Marshall spun at the Cutting, smashing the entire back window, young Jack Perkins car caught fire inside whilst in the chase and Dean Canto went into the wall at the Esses.

But, the rain came down with about 18 laps remaining causing havoc at the top of the mountain, with Paul Morris put his car into the wall at the Cutting brining out the 7th safety car. The rain came down heavier, Mark Winterbottom spun at the end of Conrod Straight into the sand trap, relinquishing the lead to Lowndes. That wasn't it though, Jason Bright, Mark Skaife and Russell Ingall all crashed at the Dipper bringing out another safety car, the 8th one of the race.

Some teams gambled on wet tyres but the rain eventually stopped but the track was still very slippery. Steven Johnson had the lead for less than a lap after passing Craig Lowndes but Lowndes got him back at the Chase with James Courtney able to take advantage of Johnson's mistake.

They all stayed in the same order from there as Lowndes and co-drive Jamie Whincup went onto win their second Bathurst in a row and also Ford's second in a row, a feat they haven't achieved for a very long time.

Not a good day if you're a Holden fan, with a lot of Holden cars not making it to the finish. |@

Who watched the race?

Re: Super Cheap Auto Bathurst 1000

I am not really into the car racing, however I was at my aunt and uncle's place for dinner and they had it on there.
Good to see that Craig Lowndes won the race.@|

Re: Super Cheap Auto Bathurst 1000

yeah i watched it but i'm a bit shattered as i am a Holden man. I thought Jason Bright should have put wet tyres on or at least warmed his slicks. Would've won the race. Lowndes was a bit lucky but that's what you need to win so good on him. @|

In the championship Jamie Whincup is winning from Lowndes in 2nd, Rick Kelly is a further 2 points behind in 3rd.

In other V8 Supercars news next year Sandown will be a sprint race and Phillip Island will be an Endurance instead.
