Victorian Premier Cricket - 2010/11

Victorian Premier Cricket - 2010/11

New season. New thread. New questions to be answered.

Confirmed moves.
  • Chris Rogers to Prahran
  • Shane Jones to Footscray
  • Andrew Fekete to Camberwell
  • Nathan Walsh to Fitzroy
  • Allan Wise back to Richmond
  • Peter Manser to Carlton
Departures from District Cricket include Nathan Allen, Warren Ayres, Nathan Geisler, Cameron Huckett, Michael Beer, Aiden Blizzard, Rob Cassell.

Hearing that there will be a block of T20 matches in the middle of the season, and the One Day finals to have been played by Christmas.

Allan Wise may have brought over a pretty handy addition to the Tigers side, an ex-FC player.

Who will be leading the attack for the Dees this year?
Is there anyone the Saints haven't been linked to?
Which club did the best out of the coaching merry-go-round?
Is the talk true of an international bowler heading to Stonnington?

Re: Victorian Premier Cricket - 2010/11

Seen on the Footscray site that they may be participating in the Hong Kong 7's would be a good experience for all involved.

While on the clearance page on the Premier Cricket site seen this under 'interstate players'

2010/11 INTERSTATE PLAYERS
North Melbourne Kirk Adam Jeffs

Any idea who that is?

Also suprised to see Nathan Walsh leave Ringwood, his a opening batsman will he get a gig in FD first with Dickson and Mash both being openers?

Re: Victorian Premier Cricket - 2010/11

Pretty sure that Walsh is in Warnabool for university, which would make a pre-season somewhat difficult you'd imagine!

Jeffs is from the Sunshine Coast.

Mash would bat 3 you would think, I'm pretty sure he batted 3 a bit last season as well.

Re: Victorian Premier Cricket - 2010/11

Yeah, pretty sure Mash batted at three in Two Day cricket, and opened in the OD stuff.

Hearing that the Dees are chasing a young Dandenong bowler pretty hard.

Kirk Jeffs from Qld

CABOOLTURE’S first grade cricket side boasts many different characters and personalities, but opening bowler Kirk Jeffs stands out for more than one reason.

Not only does the laid back 200cm-plus quick soar above the pack, he wears many hats on and off the field.

From claiming hat-tricks with the ball as he did against Glasshouse last weekend, to his promising music career, Jeffs is a rare breed among sport’s dedicated elite.

His sporting prowess is unquestionable. Not only can he lay claim to getting Matthew Hayden, Lee Carseldine and Nick Kruger out in his XXXX First Grade debut for Toombul at the tender age of 17, he’s also played state level junior rugby union and touch football, and competed for Caboolture Little Athletics in high jump and triple jump at Queensland Championships.

Basketball also runs through his veins Jeff’s mum Judy was Caboolture Basketball president for more than a decade and he also played rugby league as a youngster with the Snakes.

But the 24-year-old is quick to point out that sport isn’t actually his first love. That spot belongs to his passion for blues and roots music which has wowed teammates over the years.

And while Jeffs continues to turn down offers to return to the XXXX First Grade competition, the D’Aguilar native is happy playing with a team he describes as “the most humorous” he’s ever been apart of.

About 1,000 runs and 30 wickets would cover any off field discipline I would have thought.

Anything but burning down the clubrooms probably!

Any comments from people about the published fixture. Especially the fact that the Country Round will be a T20 game. IS this good or bad for the country folks and each teams travel arrangements ?

Aren't all the coaching and cricket management staff from Prahran ? Wonder why they didn't do that when at the Two Blues !
