As that certain fat man in the red suit starts to ready his chargers for his annual visit our own coloured friends take to the paddock for the final time in the year. And while some may be in the festive spirit, there is certainly some seriousness about a number of matches as some teams try to keep the early season momentum alive.

The highlight game is Royal Parade where Carlton and Geelong clash in a top of the table encounter. Casey South Melbourne host Footscray Edgewater in a game that could prove critical to both teams finals chances, while Prahran travel to Fitzroy Doncaster in another game that could have eventual finals implications. The round is also important for two teams, Dandenong and Footscray Edgewater, who are looking shaky in this format of the game and could slide down the premiership ladder if the trend isn't reversed.

Premier Cricket. Round 11. Twenty20. Dec18th. Selections Bolded.
Casey South Melbourne (4-3-2) vs. Footscray Edgewater (3-2-4)

Carlton at one of the best country pitches around, against the Kangas. Gulbis with three hundreds in the country in the last four years; reckon you'd back him in to make it four against the Kanga attack.

Big games between Melbourne and Prahran, with Prahran leading the club T20 championship, and Geelong vs Camberwell, both teams there and abouts. Rain could come into play too, with teams being spread so far across the state.

Well, it's off to the country for all First Elevens this round as we resume after the festive break. Hopefully everyone has recovered from those festivities and looking forward to the final six rounds of cricket over the next eleven Saturdays. And with this rounds final Twenty20 game to help continue the shake-up of the competition ladder, there will be plenty of clubs keen to grab the pints before the longer form of the game returns next round.

Agree with you Barry Dawson, that the highlight match is between Prahran and Melbourne. And am seriously looking at catching some mates playing in a local suburban one-dayer game then heading up the highway to see the True Blues and Demons go head to head in the twilight. It's a pity that again this season the Bushranger players aren't all available - devalues the reason for taking the games to the country, which was the original reason for this round.

Premier Cricket. Round 12. Jan 8th. One-Dayer. Selections Bolded.
Melbourne University (2-3-5) vs. Ringwood (6-3-1)
Footscray Edgewater (3-2-5) vs. Essendon (3-2-5)

Carlton (6-3-1) vs. North Melbourne (1-3-6)
St Kilda (4-3-3) vs. Hawthorn Monash University (1-1-8)
Northcote (2-3-5) vs. Dandenong (6-1-3)
Prahran (5-3-2) vs. Melbourne (5-3-2)

While the wet weather has certainly wrecked havoc on the schedule and seen days lost, the flip side is that there are still nearly three quarters of the teams with a realistic chance of playing finals with the final five rounds to be played. And the abandonment of last Saturday's first day of Round 13 has changed the complexion of the round and will no doubt give some teams a better opportunity to claim points.

Premier Cricket. Round 13. Jan 15th & 22nd. 1-Dayer (Rescheduled). Selectins Bolded.
Footscray Edgewater (4-2-5) vs Dandenong (6-1-4)

Not a good weekend of tipping Sam.

With the upsets in the past couple of rounds, particularly the capitulation by the Demons in the past two games, your correspondent hasn't fared as well as would have been expected. But that is the gamble that one takes when making selections. And again this round there are a couple of matches that could go either way. And with the tightness of the competition ladder every point will be worth their weight in gold with just four rounds to go.

Fitzroy Doncaster hosting Footscray Egdewater more than likely will see the Doggies finals changes slip with a loss, while the Casey South Melbourne versus Camberwell Magpies match out countryside could have hosting implications for the finals and Frankston Peninsula's finals chances rest on their performance at the Junction Oval.

Premier Cricket. Round 14. Sat Jan 29 & Sun Jan 30. 2-Dayer. Selections Bolded.
Fitzroy Doncaster (5-2-5) vs. Footscray Edgewater (5-2-5)
Melbourne (5-3-4) vs. Melbourne University (4-3-5)
Hawthorn Monash University (1-1-10) vs. Northcote (4-3-5)
St Kilda (6-3-3) vs. Frankston Peninsula (5-3-4)

Ringwood (6-3-3) vs. Geelong (6-2-4)
Essendon (3-2-7) vs. Carlton (7-3-2)
Casey South Melbourne (6-3-3) vs. Camberwell Magpies (6-4-2)

Keep cool boys and use plenty of PF30 !

So we could see the return of another 'waverly' team in season 2011/12 to be playing out at central reserve. Not sure if this relocation could work with hawthorn monash just up the road.

Word is?

Richmond ARE relocating to Central Reserve. Been talk about what the name will be, with Waverley Tigers a likely option. The redevelopment of the facility will occur on the top oval, which will eventually be the 1sts/2nds ground, leaving the current main oval to be one of the better 3rds/4ths grounds around.

Think Hawthorn should be feeling more threatened. After the clean out a little while ago, we see people like Entwhistle ending up there again, Tormey wanting to leave, and a club that had three teams in the finals last year moving in nearby.
