Re: What Bat should I get

just a question, but would you have made the state side if you gently caressed a four through the gaps too? it probably wouldnt break your bat and show another side of your ability.

anyway, for what you want - big shots - by the sounds of it, you'll want a rather heavy bat. i cant say exactly how heavy as im not to good on my harrow bats but as an adult it would be something close to or over 3lbs. A thick middle is a must for the long life and power of your bat

But also remember that the bat doesnt necesarily make your shot 'explosive' hand speed, footwork co-ordination all have to do with it too. you dont need a huge bat to be successul and you dont need to 'smash a six off every ball' either but if you do go down that road get as heavy as you can handle with a big middle

Re: What Bat should I get

The problem he'll find is that very few harrow bats are 'heavy'. You can get one custom made but due to the blade/handle being a little shorter there is less wood to play with.

He may want to consider a specialist T20 style bat. I beleive Gray Nicholls do a 'Gigabow' or an actual T20 which may fit the bill.

Re: What Bat should I get

At your age and with your weight/height ratio, I really do not think you have the structure to wield a heavy bat; you should not really be looking for anything much above 2 and half or we will be in the injury zone. However, mas' options are worth thinking about; playing with weight and distribution... The bat here Serious Cricket > Newbery Uzi SPS Cricket Bat from Serious Cricket is one I know well and it has a lovely pick up. [Other makes available].

However, there is more to the game and trials than slogging. As TeeJay mentioned, I would rather have a player who could regularly see the gaps and stroke the 4s than put all their efforts in to the odd 6s.
