Great stuff. All players were spoken to by the umpires prior to the game and advised what was card worthy. This was for language, and because it was directed at the umpire. Keep handing them out and people will start to show some respect to the umpires.
We are only a few days away from round 1. With the weather tomorrow and today, we should have some crackers of batting decks... Pity that they might just sit under the covers.
Anyway.. These are the games that may get a start:
Highton v Bell Post Hill - Expect the Hill in a tight one I...
Time to read the regulations
Peake - SB junior - 50% value before loyalty points (max 4 point value)
Davies - SB Junior - 50% value before loyalty points (max 4 point value)
I think the other ratings are a bit high. Halbish would not be a 10 point starting value.
How many players have been named in the past 2 years? No many. How many umpires have withdrawn reports because a player apologised after the game? Quite a few... The umpires are their own worse enemy. They had the power to call the captain as soon as there was a little over the top banter and...
I would be sure that the kiwi is not on a working holiday maker visa, so should be right to play. Young has married an Aussie, and i heard that Romaniw is on a student visa like the Waurn Ponds players. By that, I expect that none of the 3 would be classed as overseas players.
The t20 is an opt in competition. Nobody forces anyone to play. I know that a lot of clubs struggle to get close to their top side on the part for the T20.. But if you get pants'd by a Div2 or Div3 club, then you have to wear it. Last year it was Murgheboluc that beat Grovedale.
If Mano merges, is that any different to getting relegation, in regard to clearances? I know clubs are circling...
Also what is confirmed for GCA changes.
Buchanan to GW
Davies & Vines to Footscray
Have not heard much from Grovedale, East, Joeys.
I do not know. Looking at Mycricket, I think the offending player was Verhoef, and it was actually for playing too many games up. He player 10 games in the 3rds and 4ths and was dropped to the 5ths without permission.
Your post said that the club, lets call them East Belmont, recieved the correct penalty. They were fined $50 and only missed the final because they cheated twice. How is a $50 fine a fair penalty for a club that changes a team sheet 7 weeks after the game, in a blatant attempt to cheat.
The team was not able to play finals. They could also be fined up to $500 for playing a inelligible player, which seems fair as they have blatantly cheated, in changing a team sheet of a forfeit 7 weeks after the game. Maybe MickeyD can explain how changing a team sheet 7 weeks after the game...
The GCA points system seems a good idea, but I think still does need tweaking.
A maximum of 3 loyalty points seems a little short to me. A person with 3 years at your club, can be worth the same as a person with 10 years, with a similar beginning.
It is a little confusing, and I think that...
I doubt that there would be support from most Div1 clubs for getting rid of 85 over fixtures for turf cricket. I would prefer to see a competition so that is only 2 day fixtures and the other one day and t20 stuff is done midweek and weekends.
Playing 3rds and 4ths as one day fixtures does...
Do we know any facts in this case? Did the umpire hear it. In the paper it said yes, but I have heard no. Was there enough evidence to convict this person? I am sure that you would not want a person to be named and shamed if the group investigating were not 100% certain.
Agree. While a push to replace the president is a posibility, I am certain a move from current GCA HQ would be unlikely, unless it was for other reasons. (ie. relationships with sports house tennant, geelong cc, etc). What could spark the committee to lose faith in Grant. I can only think...
