The England team returned to the United Kingdom on Saturday after a two-day visit to Flanders Field in Belgium as part of their preparations for the forthcoming npower Ashes against Australia.
There is a long list of Australian and English first class and test cricketers who served in both wars. They were sometimes used as recruiting devices to lure more men to the carnage from Australia where there was no conscription.
I am sure the same is true of India, New Zealand, South Africa, Pakistan and in fact all the major cricketing countries.
The list is surprisingly long of the dead and severely wounded . It should be the subject of a book if it is not already. I cant list them all here.
