West Indies in New Zealand

After New Zealand's short tour of Australia, they head back across the Tasman to host West Indies who recently overtook them to take 7th place in the test standings. The tour is a rather short one, a tad over five weeks in duration. Once again, this is another tour with only two tests and is packed with plenty of one-day cricket.

Re: West Indies in New Zealand

This series will be interesting as both the teams fight for 7th and 8th spot in Test Rankings . But New Zealand are favourites.
Which channel in Australia going to telecast this series ??

Will probably be on Foxtel in Australia. Only games involving Australia are shown on Free-to-Air TV and that's done by Channel 9.

Re: West Indies in New Zealand

This series will see some very ordinary Cricket..

Interesting to see that young Southee got the boot.

Re: West Indies in New Zealand

Could go either way here. But if the Windies were ever going to win a series away from home (they have hardly won outside their own country yet alone won a series for about the last 10 years), then this would be their one of their biggest chances yet.
Being at home, however, has me leaning towards the Kiwis.
Watch out for Ross Taylor in the future, he looks like one of the few players for the Kiwis who could very well be a genuine world class player.

Re: West Indies in New Zealand

Nash (used to play for Queensland) could be in with a shot at debut in this test match. Has played a few ODI as a middle order batsman and a medium bowler. WOuld be a great example of someone that never gave up on their dream to play at the highest level.

NZ came of an unproductive tour, no-one was discovered really, the batsman struggled and the bwolers were to inconsistent (hence 3 bowler change to the squad)

West Indies to be way too strong here....

Re: West Indies in New Zealand

How out to Powell, caught by Chanderpaul at point for 10.

New Zealand 1/10 with McIntosh still yet to get off the mark off 22 balls.

Re: West Indies in New Zealand

New Zealand 1/88 at Lunch.
Flynn 48*
McIntosh 28*

West Indies have been a little bit unlucky so far in the first session however they haven't created enough chances. Flynn has never made a test half-century but you'd expect that he'd get one today. If the West Indies don't get a couple of quick wickets after Lunch they will be in serious trouble.

Re: West Indies in New Zealand

McIntosh who had played one of the most patient innings imaginable tried to loft Gayle over mid-on for some unknown reason and was caught for 34.

New Zealand are now 2/97 with Ryder joining Flynn at the crease who is on 51 not out.

Re: West Indies in New Zealand

Gayle strikes again, this time it's Ross Taylor who is out with another stupid shot. Gayle bowled a wide one outside off, Taylor tried to hit it over midwicket but hit it straight up and was caught by Marshall for 15.

New Zealand 3/128 with Flynn on 63 and Ryder the new man at the crease.

Gayle has 2/9 off 6 overs now.

Re: West Indies in New Zealand

New Zealand 3/180 at Tea.
Flynn 92*
Ryder 22*

Once again the West Indies need some quick wickets after tea if they're going to bowl New Zealand out for a competitive total.

Re: West Indies in New Zealand

Gayle hits Flynn on the pad and is initially given not out. Gayle challenges and it goes to the third umpire under the referral system and is given out. Flynn is out for 95, unlucky not to get a ton.

New Zealand 4/189. Ryder is on 26.

Gayle 3/32 off 17 overs.

Re: West Indies in New Zealand

They're off for bad light with New Zealand at 4/226. Who would have though starting at midday would mean that play would finish early.

Re: West Indies in New Zealand

another slow old day in New Zealand.

the two worst test playing countries in the world going head to head (not including Bangladesh - i don't believe they have actually played a "test" yet)

Daniel Flynn batted well and Jesse Ryder was coming good towards the end of the day. This'll be an interesting test match.
