Money Shield 2012/13

I wonder what 3slips2gullys thinks of what been happening? Hasn't posted for while? ;) He'd be all over the fact some guy from LP scored 200 against Thommo in the 2s.

Banyule have dodged a massive bullet over the weekend. Absolutely smashed by Lalor Stars, and possibly more pain to come this weekend, with Lalor hoping for a huge win to knock Monty out of finals. Banyule should still be safe from relegation. They left the door massively open for either Panton Hill or Thomastown to stay up, with both only needing to get the points. Yet Thomastown have already lost, and the only way for Panton Hill to get the chocolates would be if Motchy makes 200.

Billy Jenkins (Gyro's boy) Great effort for a young bloke or anyone for that matter to score a double. Congratulations!

Not to mention, that if you look at his stats, he had never made a ton before (as per mycricket*). Not a bad first one.

What a great point MSW! That possiblity has slipped under the radar. It could see the imports out and the home grown in. Go the PYTHONS!!!

Mont and LS would each need to keep a pretty close check on the other's % during the day before taking the gamble on an outright; but if one found itself slipping behind on % it would need to take a punt on the outright.

Lalor are well and truly infront at this stage. Mont are the ones that need the outright attempt. Lalor just basically need to not do anything stupid.

Would be worth facing 1 ball and then asking the Banyule boys to call it off, which would almost guarantee them a finals start. (Bar a Monty Miracle)

LS are in front at the moment, but (1) they need Banyule's OK to call it off, because the umps can't call it off while an outright is clearly possible, and (2) it would be a gamble - they might want to plug on batting nice and safely until it's clear that SM aren't going to collapse for less than Banyule did; because at the moment, Mont's batting average this game is better than LS's (28 to c25+).

LS wil be thinking 10 pts=Home Final, thats all.

The fact that they aren't even in the top 4 now, would suggest they are going to be more focussed on getting into the 4 first, rather than working out who or where they are playing. But they are in a good position to give it a good shake. But going for the outright, could cost them their finals spot......

Monty aren't even a lock for the 6 points yet. Looking at it I'd suggest they have too much to do on Saturday. 18 wickets for less than 180 runs or chase the difference.. it's a big ask from a very honest, steady bowling attack.

Few scenarios at the moment. Banyule will be keen not to fold like that again. Looking at the rate Stars batted at you'd suggest they've got a close eye on the percentages, otherwise they'd have just blazed as many runs as their top order could muster and thrown them back in. They're still a big outright chance but I'd be surprised if Banyule fold like that again.

If Hurstbridge can win they'll get a home final (backing Heidelberg bowlers). Anyone's guess who finishes 2nd, 3rd and 4th at the moment. Good finish to the season.

Huge gamble until they know what's happening with Mont and, of course, Hbridge have to lose first before it's even worth trying for.
HB game will be over by 1.05 either way, if they go down, LS go for 10, can't see GB chasing 300 and they'll make Mont do the math and the chasing............hope there are no barrells changing hands this week.

Its funny how this time of year, there is always talk of "barrells changing hands", has anyone ever actually known for a fact of any barrells changing hands? I am sure there would be some good stories out there.

Eltham should've given Lower Plenty a couple!!

About 12 years ago Eltham and lower played a 4 x 40 over match when both teams needed 10pts to make the 4. Lower Plenty lost 1st innings and declared at tea on day 2 and set Eltham a modest total to chase (70 odd I think, was a fair while ago!) It was all within the rules at the time but wasn't a good look.... I'm sure every other club would have done the same if they needed to, as long as you could trust the opposing skipper ;)

Can't see both games being outright, but oh, what a shocking end to the season it would be for Hurstbridge for the 2nd season running.
Will be tough for Mont to get 18 wickets, although Morang have nothing to play for.
Boro will be hoping for 6 point games, don't think they'd want to play Stars after giving up 600 runs in 2 games.
Surely the bottom 3 are sorted, although players in those teams say their clubs haven't been god it's definitely 3 going down.

Highlight of the round and year(if true, haven't had it confirmed yet) Ruwan Perera 10/35 vs Panton Hill...............huge effort, can anyone confirm this?????
