APS- 3rd's Competition (Super 3's)

A couple of big matches coming up this week in the Super 3's, your thoughts?

Re: APS- 3rd's Competition (Super 3's)

well hoggi, its seems to me that there is only one big match in the 3rds comp this week. That would be the Caulfield V Xavier thirds. I was scouting the xavier training, hoggi recieved a shocking eye socket injury...he was lucky to escape with his life. Streaky a.k.a. leeeeeeeeeeyam also got to know the pain when he caught a sharp shot in the ball of his ankle...on the plus side, he saved at least 2 runs. The usual suspects who saved the game last week with there bowling...were performing well. A new addition to the squad, Zaheer Khan, has showing his brilliance being able to bowl left handed and bat right handed...making him one of only 2 international crickets to play ampi-dextrously...along with AlanSmith from Canada. After seeing this unit train both with cricket balls and soccer balls, it seems inevitable that they will undoubtedly win. In also attending The caulfield boys, well, lets just say they left alot to be desired.

Yes Bradley. An in-form Caufiled outfit will be taking on the xavs, who are back to their best following a thrilling vicotry over the from scotchies. For all interested spectators, venue is Jackson Oval, Xavier at 1.

This game is proving to be one of the most anticipated games this season, with the caufiled lads hoping to demolish the xavs premiership aspirations.

2-Funki
3-Moody
4-Khan
5-Symcox

Re: APS- 3rd's Competition (Super 3's)

A formidible outfit, if Ive ever seen one. Top order strength with the likes of funky miller and hoggie, the left and right handed combination looking in good touch in the nets. Stability is maintained through the middle order with patty symcox coming off a dazzling innings of 25 in which he displayed a broad array of shots, this strokeplay combined with his solid defensive game, has had caused bowlers to, and I quote, "scratching their head" with them clearly bemused as to how to dismiss this fine specimen of a cricketer.

Romesh Kaluwithrana has been put a hard week on the track, giving it 110%, and at a midweek press conference, he stated that "he was giving it all for the boys, but the team just needs to take it one week at a time, playing it over by over, just getting the runs on the board and then bowl accordingly.

Bradley "Hoggie Number Thirty One" Hogg had a less desirable start to his bowling career, but he has impressed the selection panel at training, and despite his horrendous vision impairment sustained at training, the selection panel have shown faith in his ability, and despite his bowling average of 67 with the ball and 8 with the bat, he has shown glimpses brillliance in his brief batting innings and questioniable bowling.

Looking forward to the weekend super game.

Re: APS- 3rd's Competition (Super 3's)

You know moody, that couldnt be more true...all the boys are increasingly growing as a unit and are really looking forward to this weeks clash, and barring any clangers, it should be a solid game.

There is a big cloud hanging over Kalawitharana, after several shots to the pills in last weeks phenomenal victory over Scotch. While batting he was consistently troubled with the bowling, but still soldiered on. On occassion he was hit in the groinal region. He is usually a great puller...but unfortunately couldnt get it up this time. I was watching a Ballroom dancing competition, which a pair from Iceland won...and Kalawitherana's footwork was far from identical. It will be great to see the improvement that was well evident in the nets session, being brought into tomorrow's big match.

Despite hoggi's much anti-climactic start to the season, both with the club and the nugget, there is no doubting his natural ability. I’m not sure that I’d say he is our second best cricketer after Bradman … but there would not be many between them.

It also must be said that in todays game, cricket is being played more in the mind than on the field. It is imperitive then, that Monty continues his brutality and scathing attacks, aimed at demoralizing the opposition before they step on the pitch.

Moodie's batting style has been constantly referred to as "Computer Batting"...that is...in two motions, much the same of a computer game batsmen. However, it's quite obvious, he is making the runs, and thats whats important.

Streaky's pace and height allows him to get under the oppositions collar with steep bounce and fierce pace. This ensures the opposition are constantly rattled and on there toes like a midget with a urinal.

Dravid...now here is an enigma if i have ever seen one. Last match, he strolled out to the wicket in his normal Gangsta Boogie walk, and popped a dollie to short cover. Usually he imposes fear and trepidation on to the fielders, and irrevocably, the batsmen when he is in the field. It will be an orgasm to the eyes when we see him in full flight tomorrow.

These players, essentially, will prove the difference tomorrow, judging on there slightly undulating performances over the previous weeks. Hopefully they will fire, and the super 3's can enjoy a massive victory.

Re: APS- 3rd's Competition (Super 3's)

Surprise statement, Slashin Sachin (morto) has pulled out of this weeks crunch match against Caufield Grammar. At a recent press conference hen stated he was 'busy' and could not play this week.
Last week sachin played a supportive role to the enigmatic Mahon who helped the xavs to steady and eventually come away with a victory. This omminsion could see the likes of Lumb or Loritson having to take more responsibility with the bat. Can morto be replaced? I doubt it.

Re: APS- 3rd's Competition (Super 3's)

With Patel out, perhaps the super 3's may take there chances in teh field, and not let the only capable opposition batsmen get away with one of the worst drop catches ever...we will have to wait and see.

Re: APS- 3rd's Competition (Super 3's)

The Super 3's have had to make the tough calls this week, they yielded the axe on little known west indian Dwayne Bravo (well done) for up and comer Zaheer Khan, whose performance at training lived up to all the raves.

Re: APS- 3rd's Competition (Super 3's)

Caulfield thirds are "up to the challenge" despite the loss of their skipper who has been forced down into the 2s for the next match. Some strong bowling and batting mixed with a hell alot of arse could see them pull off the greatest win since the Americas Cup

Re: APS- 3rd's Competition (Super 3's)

Well "Tambo" sorry to prove you wrong, but the result was decided before we even took the field. The match got off to a bad start with fill in captain Darren Gough lossing toss and consequently the team had to field. The match got off to a good start with the talk in the field being deemed 'as second to none'. Funky in slips good us off to a good start with a nice catch in slips, but then a moment of magic, and pure insanity by 'Otmeal', fielding at mid on, this man pulled off the best catch i have ever seen on the cricket field by a non-australian. he was running back and stuck his left mid above his head, to everyones amazment, he held the catch, proving that he can bac up his big mouth. A few poor deicsions in the field, namely by Monty lead to some unessisary runs.

Honourable bowling mentions to 'Clan-cy' and Dravid, who both got the three scals.

The chase of 110 would not be an easy chase, as the wet pitch offered something from the boys from caufield. The Super 3's got off to attrosious start with otis being deemed not out by three lbw shouts in consequtive balls, next ball he was in the pavilion and fuming, as he had got his pair. ENTER BRADLEY HOGG. wickets fell arond him, mahon was out firstly for not many, Dravid and Hogg put on a nice partnership, putting together consequtive overs for over 15 runs each. Dravid was out shortly after and next in was Monty, from the word go , he looked a bit shakky and was not long before he wasdismissed by "Sheepy" for 1. Symcox had a short stay, also falling victim to the vicious off-spin of 'sheepy'. Streaky came in and helped Hoggy along to a very well constructed 57, including 12 boundaries. Towards the end, Khan, Kalu'ana and Goughie put on some much needed runs.

Overall it was a very comfortable win for the Super 3's. A big week on the track should put us in good stead for the match in two weeks, next week due to the long w/e, there willl be no game, that doesnt mean u can just let the fitness slip.

SCORECARD- Hoggie- 57
Dravid- 16

Clan-cy- 3 wickets
Dravid- 3 wickets

Ot-meal- 1 super catch

Monty- 4 overthrows
