Australia v WIndies 4th ODI

the aussies should be 2-0 but the rain got in the way of the india match. WI are 1-1. if australia win, that should clinch them a spot in the final.

Re: Australia v WIndies 4th ODI

answering my own question...

from this preview:

Keeping in mind the inclement weather conditions and the high possibility of rain in the evenings, the remaining matches, including Monday's, will start an hour early, at 1330 Malaysia time.

Personally, I would've preferred 2 or 3 hours earlier, but an extra 60 minutes is better than none, I suppose.

Re: Australia v WIndies 4th ODI

Re: Australia v WIndies 4th ODI

Michael Hussey won the toss and Australia will bat first.

Australia - ML Hayden, SM Katich, SR Watson, A Symonds, MEK Hussey, MJ Clarke, BJ Haddin, B Lee, SR Clark, NW Bracken, DJ Cullen

West Indies - CH Gayle, S Chanderpaul, RR Sarwan, BC Lara, DJ Bravo, WW Hinds, MN Samuels, DR Smith, CS Baugh, IDR Bradshaw, JE Taylor

Looks like Collymore is still hurt for the Windies. Samuels is in for Fidel Edwards. Martyn and McGrath out of the Aussie line-up, while apparently Katich, Bracken, and Cullen are back in. And of course, that's besides the planned returns of Hayden and Lee. Australia sure are lucky to have such an incredible pool of players.

Re: Australia v WIndies 4th ODI

Windies bowling well, Australia 0/6 off 3 overs.

Re: Australia v WIndies 4th ODI

Good start for the Windies.

Australia 42/2 after 10.5

Katich was run out, thanks to some poor communication, and Watson was just out for a duck. Quite the opposite of his last game.

Re: Australia v WIndies 4th ODI

Terrible start, 3/57 with Symonds failing.

Re: Australia v WIndies 4th ODI

110/5 from 28

Great bowling from pretty much all of the Windies bowlers. Their best performance so far. Looks like Lee is going to be called upon to put in a good batting performance for Australia today.

Re: Australia v WIndies 4th ODI

Hussey and Haddin saving Australia here. Australia had a shocking start with most of the batsman failing. Hayden was slow in getting to his 49 and Katich was run-out with the rest not scoring a lot.

Hussey currently on 72 off 73 balls with Haddin 56 off 64 balls. Haddin has also hit four 6's.

These two have really pushed up the run-rate. It's almost at 5 runs per over now.

Bradshaw the pick of the bowlers with 2/35 off his 10 but he was bowled out early.

Australia are 5/220 after 45 overs.

Re: Australia v WIndies 4th ODI

6/273, magnificent effort by Haddin (70) and Hussey (109*).

Very much deserved ton to Hussey, good to see him make his first ODI century and good to see Haddin finally make a 50 in ODI cricket.

Re: Australia v WIndies 4th ODI

Hussey continue's to show his best form for Australia, terrific knock.

Re: Australia v WIndies 4th ODI

Stuart Clark having an absolute shocker. Just conceded 23 runs off his last over and has figures off 7-0-87-0.

If he bowls his 10, he could break Mick Lewis' record.

Windies cruising at 2/195 off 31 overs. Need another 78 runs off 19 overs. Lara on 67 off 63 with Gayle on 79 off 92.

Re: Australia v WIndies 4th ODI

Yup, very disapointing with the ball tonight - looks like we will loose this one, but the main thing is that we are getting some match fitness for that little series we like to call the Ashes.

Having said that Watson has just managed to snaffle a wicket - so maybe we are still in this!

Re: Australia v WIndies 4th ODI

Game has been turned on it's head!!

The Windies have lost 4-13 off 2.2 overs. Lee picks up an extra 2 wickets with Symonds and Watson picking up one. West Indies couldn't possibly lose this one?? This is unbelievable!!!

7/261 off 45.2 overs. Still need 13 off 28. Bravo on 28, Baugh on 4.

Re: Australia v WIndies 4th ODI

And the Windies win. Bravo's smashes a six off Bracken to take them within two runs of victory and then manages to get the final two runs and wins the game.

Pretty good finish in the end. Australia probably would've won if it weren't for Stuart "7-0-78-0" Clark. Still very competitive for a team that is missing quite a few star players.

But Gayle and Lara batted very well at the start and the middle of the innings and set up the Windies win.

Hussey was the stand-out though. Got Australia to a very respectable score and in his first game as captain.

So, the West Indies win by 3 wickets.

Man of the Match is Michael Hussey.

Re: Australia v WIndies 4th ODI

Just finished watching it. Wow, the West Indies looked great, but once again they almost blew it at the end. Exciting end to the match, and a fun match to watch if you're a Windies fan. As mentioned, Clark was horrible. Yikes. Chanderpaul was unlucky to be out, as the replays showed he clearly wasn't. If you take that into consideration, the West Indies top order has really looked fantastic all tournament long. They'll give India a tough match to win tomorrow, and they'll certainly believe that they have a chance to win the final.

Re: Australia v WIndies 4th ODI

We were shocking however only lost by 3 wkts which is a good sign. Apart of Hussey, Haddin and Hayden to a lesser extent we were rusty and didn't make enough runs.

The bowling was inconsistent, too many extras given away and Clark had a shocker.
