Best / Worst places to shop for your cricket gear?

Interested to hear other people's opinions on cricket stores? Where do you like to buy your gear from? Where are the good ones? Where are the bad ones? What make's them good/bad?

For Aussies, don't go to rebel. They don't have any decent English willow for 100-200 bucks. They're either real good (In the glass cases), or real crap ($70 Kashmir Willow).

Harvey Warne Hammil is good, except it's a bit pricey. I think it's A-mart that have pretty good prices and pretty good bats as well.

Re: Best / Worst places to shop for your cricket gear?

I was gonna say don't shop at A-mart, but Im sort of making an assumption. I will agree in Rebel, but to overpriced. For me, I like Meulemans and Slater-Gatrell, they're the best specialist cricket stores in the Perth area

Re: Best / Worst places to shop for your cricket gear?

In the eastern states of Aus the best place I find is Greg Chappell Cricket centres

I live in the UK. I went to Romida once and found their service very poor - the manager argued with me over 2GBP. Never went back there, ever. I now go to a small family sports shop called Raje in Dewsbury (Yorkshire).

greg chappels cricket store in adelaide ( i think thats what its called)

its in the city and they have bout 150 bats in there ranging rom 100 dollars to 700 dollars but its very small but that doesnt matter and they know what there talking about

Re: Best / Worst places to shop for your cricket gear?

I live in merseyside so not much choice really but the Romida in maghull is good but all the bats and stuff are jumbled together so you need have a search.

I hate cricket direct as the service is crap.

Re: Best / Worst places to shop for your cricket gear?

+1 for greg chappel cricket centre (australia)

now only a short walk from my work in melbourne, but i used to use them back in the day where they had just the single queensland store. never let me down and always stocked what i was looking for.

Re: Best / Worst places to shop for your cricket gear?

Definatley greg chappel cricket centre. i order all my gear from there the postage is allways quick(within a week). and whenever im in melbourne i allways go there. Great range to!

Re: Best / Worst places to shop for your cricket gear?

Big ups for Greg Chappel. Our club orders the majority of our equpitment through Greg Chappel - prices are pretty good without being mind blowing, but they're always very very reliable.

Re: Best / Worst places to shop for your cricket gear?

For Melbourne, go to the Gray Nichols/County "seconds" factory in Cheltenham.
They are listed as seconds, but there is nothing wrong with the products what so ever.
Picked up a "Fusion Monster" for $300, where as they are at least $420 anywhere else, including Greg Chappell.
Well worth a look.

Re: Best / Worst places to shop for your cricket gear?

In my area in Sydney I reckon Kingsgrove Sports Centre is the best place for cricketet gear that I know of.

Topline sports in Bayswater is also very good. just bought a Hunt bat from there, last years model worth 450-500 now 250. quite good value.

Another good place is Leo Russel he is located in Preston and he is the cheapest cricket store going around. He is always 20-50 dollars cheaper then Greg Chapell. If u don't mind his fruitty personality and 80's shop it is good value for money

From all reports No Good, Peter (the owner at Leo Russells) has stopped providing cricket gear now. He is just selling his running shoes.
Bad news for all ! I always used to go there.

Looking at a bat from the UK on a website called kitbag.com

Have any of you used it or heard of any people using it? Because I found a woodworm for $200 and only takes 3-5 days to get out here.

Is it trustworthy.
