Bowling Follow Through

When bowling in the nets at school the coach told me i should follow through after bowling the ball. Is this important? and what does it help?

Re: Bowling Follow Through

Follow through is extremely important; if you get it right, it will improve your speed and accuracy. More importantly, it can prevent a lot of injuries. Follow through is slightly different depending on what type of bowler you are but go with the coach... he'll see you right :)

Re: Bowling Follow Through

Just to add to what Liz has said, the follow through completes the action, without one you're only doing 2/3 of what's needed.

Re: Bowling Follow Through

Has the coach talked you through the correct follow through? If so, do you have any difficulty with it... either with the arms or the legs?

Re: Bowling Follow Through

Probably because you are thinking too much about it. As mas says, it is just a continuation of the action so should come naturally.

Your normal abrupt finish will not allow for any shock absorption and may also cause a counter action. You need to relax into a follow through and just let momentum take you through.. especially with the arms and a straight run.

Re: Bowling Follow Through

One thing to try is to mark out the run out using cones. This means that you have nowhere else to go once you finshed bowling

Try walking through your action first then building up the pace.
