City of Moorabbin Cricket Association 2010/11

This immediately puts the blokes from 8 teams at a disadvantage. If a bloke kicks 8 goals in a semi final to take him to the head of the goalkicking, he doesn't win the Coleman medal.

Can confirm that T.O.Y is selected on home & away criteria. Also based on specialist positions, balance of team, etc. Averages & aggregates don't always tell the true tale but play a big part because you have to base some part of selection on the unseen.
8 or 9 blokes picked themselves this year, the other spots will cause conjecture as always, as they should.

Gotta ask questions about The Sharks big motivation in chasing the H Grade flag. I wonder if Donati & Twiggy will move up to Quiney to help that team get into the big dance?????

I'd question whether that is Union's JWC, but if you play hard on the field, you should always make yourself available for a drink with the opposition after a game. After heated exchanges on the battle-field etc, if you win and ignore the opposition you look like a scared soft cck in real life, and if you lose, you look like the sorest loser known to man.

Surprised by Sponge Bob's lack of defence but as Merl has already stated and will re enforce Donuts & Twiggy are playing social cricket with Twiggy's father Paul I think his name is.Even Liam Pickering played in this team to help out.

There is no crime playing with your Dad or your mates and given the injuries and intensity Donuts plays at where he could give nothing but 100% I doubt he could be fit and capable to play in the Bobby Dazzler!

They are not the first and certainly will not be the last to play down the grades and from memory an ageing Marco Bertazzon and one other former great have found their right level in the twilight of their career which can only be good to the club

Just concentrating on the weekend ahead ol' Merl, but to give a bit of background on Nuttsy - he's still recovering from an Achilles 'snap' and surgery on that to re-attach it, so no, he's not at 100% even though his heart is always well above that! Twig has been flying down from Sydney for a few games (where he was working until recently - now heading up Milo for CA from the Melbourne office). As for Pickers - he's played a few also when time has permitted. Bottom line is we have been low on numbers in Paul's team all year, and they have offered to help out.
These guys will no doubt be playing up the grades next year - along with a couple of others in that team. 'Jordy' Cousins is a class act and we're keen to see him commit to playing ones next year rather than a very social hit with his buds in H grade.
I've left out Marcus Dollman - who Carnegie South got a good look at in the 20-20 bash! can he play.... ex Camberwell 1sts, who happens to be Paul's son in law and helping out also, but has not qualified for finals I don't think.
So bottom line.... it's an interesting state of affairs, and has raised debate even internally, but you'd rather get them playing 'somewhere' in the hope that they commit to next year in our rebuilding phase - keeping in mind we took a bit of stick last year as a club.
Looking forward to next year, regardless of results this and next week - the club has a positive vibe back, which is great, and the ground will be the best in the comp next year, no question - it's already looking good!
Over and out :)

Geez SB, big comment there about the ground. From memory this is the third effort that the council has had to get it right, so you would hope it becomes the CMCA showpiece. If they could only put a roof on it, oh what a venue it would become. Pickers is too busy counting his commission from Ablett and looking forward to his next sizeable commission when he prostitutes Scully and co before Western Sydney. Ofcourse neither of them is thinking about the 6 million dollar contract, just focusing on the game. Sugar is going to be in a good mood around July/August as the leaks start to fly around. Looking very encouraging down at Shark Park, and if you can get over the West Stars and win the whole thing ( yes I know one game at a time) then you would have to put your lads up their as final contenders next season. Anyway all the best for tomorrow and Sunday.Be nice to Bottsy as he is really a sensitive caring bloke when he is not trying to take your head off.

Tips for Prelims
Longy - Hoops easy, showed enough last week to give the gold caps the big freo heavo. Pretty ordinary that they didn't stay around for at least 1 drink after the game, lets hope they channel their arrogance this week.
Wooly - Westers, another year for Wallet Park
JQ - Vandals
D Grade - Royals, Hoops were lucky to only get one player reported last week, then even luckier to get him off the charge. There is one royal player who will get right up the noses of the hoops, it will be a very willing contest.
E Grade - My boys the Iris Shamrocks.
F Grade - Ommies, Bluey to make a ton.
G Grade - Panthers
H Grade - Cluden, this will decided by who wants to get to the bar the quickest.
I Grade - RSL, same as above.

I must also say that last weeks 2nd semi final in Longy was a superb exhibition of 2 quality teams going for it, it was played hard but fair and the fielding was lifted another notch. AG would have to be the best K/B in the comp on this years form.
Hoops will get back at least 1 bowler in Veitch, he will be raring to have a crack at some of the Gold Caps best.
Could it happen? Two new teams in the big gig, Is there a CMCA god? We'll have to wait and see.

Dream result for you Merl. The Boys Club beaten by the weather. Washington Park were very impressive with the ball, particularly in the conditions. If they can repeat that and get their batting right I find them very hard to beat.

Thanks Mick I think I will open a bottle or 15 merlot's and now maybe the Timepiece and Jimmy can get rid of the water vessel talk.Bring on the thimbles and it is a bit like when you select Vinnie's sagpies you are disappointed with missing your selection but more than happy they got done.Go dees.

I wonder how many days it will take to get my cricket updated.

Is the CMCA a Water Polo Competition where players are now forced to play in the rain?

a very happy Merl over and into the bottle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Evening All,

News from the CMCA water polo competition is that several big games were decided by the rain gods and that was probably par for the course in our rain interupted season.

As advised earlier but I will delight in saying it again the thimbles,BMF, and all talk of water vessels are gone, so aparently is Ano the Alphabet.

However the big news is that uncle Mick has swept around the tight showgrounds circuit to catch Gordan Rothacker napping and with an 8 out of a possible 9 winners has joined the oasis less Bottsy and Merl in the leadership of the FCFTC with only the Big Dance to go.

Merl did notice that No Fox and Vinnie were after Peter Peter time in despatching their tips but just to upset Sledge and the timepiece further no penalty will apply.

The ladder and Merl's unofficial Big Dance fixture is as follows:

2010 11 Father Christmas Finals Tipping Competition

Well done on a sensational tipping effort Uncle and just shows your skill when not having to tip your mob something Adam didn't have to worry about as his tipping was just pathetic a bit like our Go Dees yesterday.

Good Luck to all the Grand Finalists for the Big Dance and bring on those 2 days in March the Beemer can hardly wait to do the circuit.

By the way burgermeaister any closer to solving the riddle?
