CJI Fatso - kashmr willow

i have seen a 2008 thread regarding kashmir willow. As a few users hv mentioned, English willows are too expensive and as a beginner i did nt feel like investing a lot.

I bought cji cricket's fatso - so called T20 specialist bat.
Apart from stroke play, i thought that the extra wood would atleast strengthen the kashmir willow (which defnitely is not as good as an english willow).

I would like to know your take on this bat and necerssary tips to make sure my bat does nt break in a month or so :)

PS: i am a newly joined - couple of mins ago - and i hope to hv a great time @ BIG cricket.

Re: CJI Fatso - kashmr willow

There are a lot of UK suppliers selling bats made in India/Pakistan claiming to be made from English willow. I bet half of them are Kashmir willow!

The things with those bats are that they tend to have a good middle but dont last very long. You will be lucky to get 2 seasons out of them.

Thats my take on ths subject but I could b wrong.

Re: CJI Fatso - kashmr willow

thanks for your response.
I have referred quite a few sites. especially this one
Matrrixx ::: The Hand Crafted Bats ::::: Cricket Bats, Balls, Batting Pads, Wicket Keeping Pads, Batting Gloves, Wicket Keeping Gloves, Signature Bats, Bat Manufacture......

which explains the difference between kashmir willow and English willow nurtured in India (EWNI).

What you said really makes sense. As a beginner i think i ll go with bat i bought.

Do you think proper oiling and knocking in will increase the life of my bat?

btw...here is link for CJI Fatso.

CJI Fatso English Willow Nurtered In India - £29.99 : CJI Cricket, Cricket Bats, Pads and other cricket equipment

I bought a Full length - 3lb one.

There's no such thing as English Willow nurtured in India, if it's grown in India it's Kashmir willow.
