Cricket Albury Wodonga 2010/2011

Its pretty bad that they cant get the draws out a couple of weeks before that we start ie for blokes to get the time off work and things 2 start to play or travel if they have to

also any spinners around these days?
Spinners....Andrew Creamer from Dederang bowls Leg Spinners
Kane Smillie from Baranduda bowls Off Spinners
Jonathon Carson from Raiders Bowls Off Spinners
James Tonkin from Lavvy bowls Off Spinners
Will Betheras from Mt Beauty Bowls Left arm Leg Spinners
Forgive me if I have missed any but these are the 1,s I know

Finally.... Does anyone know where the North St Oval is ?

As for the Lavi Black boys, they are the same as you. Just hearing them in the field you know they just want to have fun.

I might be going out on a limb here but I'm pretty sure you'll find North St Oval is in North St. Just a wild guess.

Zach Simmonds from Kiewa is a very handy prospect

hey Ritchie this is Dan hummerich Captain of the "lavy 3rds dream team" (as you put it) for the last year or so Ive read posts on here from gutless people hiding behind fake names spreading rumors and thinking they know everything and ive always just laughed it off ...my favorite one would have to be the "lavy black overthrew the president of the club to put one of there own in the position bahahahaha that was gold we are a 3rd grade team for god sake as if we have that power ...anyway getting back to the topic the reason why iam actually posting on this pathetic website is I take great exception to the fact that iam not a "club" player ...I am a committee member ive just put my hand up for one of the assistant coaches spots for the U/15's , when my team isint playing you will usually see me at the 2nd grade or Div 1 3rd grade games supporting the boys, and on grandfinal day last year i was at the 1st grade game watching every ball hoping the boys would get over the line...and you tell me iam not a club player ????
now I will agree that 3rd grade is mostly for kids, old farts or blokes that just want to have fun and i have no problem with you calling us wankers but really champ all the boys in my team fit into the "kids, old farts or blokes that just want to have" category
let me explain ...me for one i have a right hemopleger basically means my right side of my body is very weak , 3rd grade one dayers is all my body could handle I would love to be able to play higher but my body just wont let me
my vice captain (and best mate) newman holden use to be one of the greatest bowlers this comp has seen in any grade, but age and injury has caught up with him and even with playing 3rd grade one day cricket he struggles to get through it uninjured, but he loves the game to much and we have always wanted to play cricket together so he thought he would have a run in the 3s with me for a few years, most of the side would fall into the old fart category none of us want to play 2 day cricket simply because our bodies just wont let us , but having said that we forefited a game a while back so that we could fill the other 3rd grade side because they were so sort and ive already told the div 1 3rd grade captain that we will work together and if his short we will help him out, and any club funtions you will see 90% of the "dream team" there ...still not club players mate?????
at the end of the day we are all great mates we have a shitload of fun playing cricket together, we sledge each other more than we sledge the opposition and alot of the time the boys will come back to my place after a game for a few beers isint that what 3rd grade crickets all about???
and lastly we dominate sides...ritchie have you seen some of the games weve played, lets go through them shall we for starters all 3 grandfinals we have played in were so very close could have gone either way , the 1st year we played north albury they had the game won they needed something like 60 runs with 12 overs to go and 7 wickets in hand, we fought hard and one the game with 8 balls left with 11 runs needed, the 2nd grandfinal against st pats was very hard they had a great team all year and we won the game with 7 balls left and 2 wickets in hand, the 3rd grand final was against tallangatta everyone thought we were going to crush them but again we only just snuck over the line, there is teams we win big over but thats 3rd grade, the difference between clubs is every clubs goes out and finds A graders they dont care about 3rd grade and why should they, it should be up to the lower grade captains (me) to find players and thats what i do, theres to many captains that just rock up to training only weeks out before the 1st game and just see what rocks up, I make sure ive got the players well before training starts
so to ritchie and everyone else that has a cry about this "dream team" instead of crying about it go out and find some handy 3rd graders and take us on its really not that hard
having said all that I think its going to be a great year of cricket all 4 lavy grades should be up there , st pats will be hard to beat again they have a very handy all round side and good luck to steve baker and the new city boys I hope you guys do really well this year and finish 2nd behind panthers ;)
cheers hummer

Your full of it hummer! i played againest u when i was younger and your opening bowler tryed to rip me head off and you standing and there saying that i was shithouse" you play hard but fair" Put a bucket under your mouth would ya getting shit on ya keyboard! it wasnt fun as a 14 year old having 2 pretty quick blokes bowling every second ball at my head!

Predictions for this week (assuming we get play with the showers predicted!)
Prov.
Lavi to def New City
East to def Tallangatta
North to def Albury
Wodonga to def Dederang
St Pats to def Belvoir

District
Mt Beauty to def Baranduda
Barny Chiltern to def Bethanga
Raiders to def Kiewa
Yack/Howlong in a dramatic draw!
Eskdale to win the bye

These could change drastically if we end up with one dayers the following week:D

What's everyone's thoughts on Jacko's blueprint in the paper today?
Had quite a few valid points this might sound a bit far fetched but if they players are genuinely unhappy with the way the association is being run have they considered forming a CAW Players Association to voice their concerns and actually raise them at Association meetings? I know as a 2's player being told i have to front up on Sunday at 3 in the arvo to play a meaningless 20/20 game is a complete waste of time. We aren't professionals and i wonder if the Board are willing to spend BOTH days of their weekend coming to watch lesser skilled lower grade players struggle to score 100 in front of 3 girlfriends and a lost dog.

Definately has some merit in it.
Im more worried that The Board are gonna sanction him.
Be a pity if they did, the board need to be able to listen to constructive criticism (which to me is what Jackson is providing) and not consider themselves beyond criticism. At least while he is criticising them, he is presenting a solution.

In May 2010 Dave Christy from East Albury chaired a CAW clubs meeting at the Newmarket Hotel which put forward a range of ideas to be put to the board, namely updating the constitution and giving the clubs more say in changes that get made, reforming the tribunal system and proposing a different format of grading the competition rather than having the district and provincial set up. A lot of good ideas came out of this meeting and some changes were implemented. If players and clubs genuinely want to change the way the competition is set up then strength in numbers and a meeting such as this one would go a long way to bringing change for the better. A special meeting being called with the current board prior to the CAW AGM would be a good way to bring forward these agreed changes, also nominations to the board in the AGM with outgoing members needing to re stand could also facilitate this change. RJ has a lot of good ideas but obviously they arent going to be popular with all players in all grades. But change is definitely required, just need the people who will dedicate themselves to the job of implementing it.
Hope the rain stays away this saturday, keen as mustard to get into it!

Firstly Hummer your players do bowl fast to juniors but your club isn't the only one. This as happened ever since the C'Grades were merged. Anyway let's see how you guys end up this year??

Great work by RJ but I think CAW should have a look at a few comps in Melbourne and see what they do. With T20 it should be played during the week during November and play the game before christmas and the game after as T20. It should be one grade so anyone can play and doesn't put pressure on numbers. What i would do is break it into area's and if club's can't play on the weeknight they have to play on the sunday or before the next round. My groups wold be the following
Yack, Dederang , Kiewa , Albury , Tallangatta
Raiders, Wodonga, Howlong , Barny , Belvoir
Lavi , North Albury , St Pats , East Albury , New City
Baranduda , Bethanga , Eskdale , And maybe 2 teams from Hume comp or Brock comp???
And if travel is a problem clubs could meet half way!!! Considering most players live in the Albury Wodonga area.
Play 4 games and top 2 teams go through to the finals. Play and simple.

I tipping Dederang for a upset this game. Just because I can !!!!!

Weather radar looking reasonably good, so good luck to all teams and clubs and lets hope that rain stays south!!!!
It did stay away but it rained plenty of runs all over the place. What a great start to the season for batsman. Dederang look to be in trouble and no sign of the 2 West Indian's for Lavi or Dederang. Raiders dug deep after a shocking start against Kiewa. Just wondering if Lavi have any bowlers with Marmo get a few overs. There's more youth then a blue light disco going around CAW at the moment. It's great to see kids getting a game ahead of old farts. Did notice a very familar name in the Dederang 3rd's on the weekend .....mmmmm maybe another comeback on the cards..

I did Big Guy, I'm assuming you mean Mark Portelli. It couldn't be P.Hore as he has never stopped playing for any length of time to be making a comeback.
I also hear that there is a very powerful line up coming out of Kelly Park this year in the Super Rules comp. Many multiple Eagles' premiership players lining up.

Yeah good old Ports . P.Hore has retired a few times but keeps coming back at the start of the season. That C'Grade side will be very handy with the old fella's in it.
I have heard the same about the eagles side and I have been appoarched to play along with 2 other very handy cricketers in the younger side of 40 . I've heard they should dominate the bar aswell !!!!
