England continue tour despite bomb blasts

England's tour of Sri Lanka will continue as planned despite two bomb attacks in the capital, Colombo, on Wednesday, a spokesman told Cricinfo. However, the spokesman added that team officials would continue to monitor the situation, in consultation with the British High Commission.

The England squad is currently in Kandy, away from the scene of the explosions, which took place within ten hours of each other in the heart of the city, killing at least 16 people. The team is due to return to Colombo on December 6, ahead of the second Test at the SSC, but as yet there are no concerns about the safety of the players or travelling support.

From cricinfo.

Won't clutter up the other thread but it's nice to see that the usual 'We're coming home' story that you often get from touring teams hasn't been repeated here. As long as security is kept tight then there shouldn't really be any major issues?

England are resilient its not the english way to go home at a sign of danger. If we left the terrorists win. Lets stick it to them!

Occurrence of bomb blasts is an political issue and a good source for antisocial elements to get maxi. media mileage.
But it is the common man paying heavy price with his life.

Re: England continue tour despite bomb blasts

The political situation in Pakistan and Sri Lanka is always unstable that is why many attacks takes place. In India it is not such problem, but still there are bomb blasts here too :cry
