The English county Twenty20 matches are into the final stages with two quarter finals scheduled for tonight and another two for tommorrow night. Tonight Gloucestershire play Worcestershire and Nottinghamshire play kent. Tommorrow night Warwickshire play Lancashire and Sussex play Yorkshire. The winners of these matches will advance into the semi-finals.

The Australians playing in these games are:

Lets just hope that it doesn't rain in England and they can play these games as alot of the Twenty20 games so far have been either reduced in the number of overs or abandoned.

"Lancashire County Cricket Club is delighted to announce that Indian Batsman VVS (Vangipurappu) Laxman will join the Club at the completion of the Test Series against England, subject to final approval from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

This is Lancashire’s fourth overseas signing for the current season, with Laxman due to replace Brad Hodge who returns to Australia for a scheduled training camp ahead of the ICC Twenty20 World Cup"

Re: English County Twenty20 Championship

1st Semi Final:Gloucstershire won the toss and elected to field. Lancashire only managed 6/148 off their 20 overs which in a Twenty20 game you will struggle to defend. Steve Croft top scored with 33 off 29 balls and Brad Hodge got 32 off only 19 balls. Mark Hardinges got 2 wickets and Jon Lewis and Carl Greenidge each took one and their were 2 runouts.

Gloucestershire then batted and got the runs off only 16.5 overs for the loss of only 2 wickets. Craig Spearman top scored with 86 off only 55 balls and Kadeer Ali got 33 off 32 balls. Muralitharan and Flintoff each took 1 wicket. So this meant Gloucestershire were through to the final to face the winner of the 2nd Semi.

Re: English County Twenty20 Championship

2nd Semi Final: Sussex won the toss and elected to bat first. Sussex only managed 140 all out off 19.2 overs. Murray Goowin top scored with 38 off 35 with Chris Nash getting 37 off 16 and Naved-ul-Hasan getting 23 off 17. Lasith Malinga was the best of the bowlers taking 3 whilst James Tredwell took 2 with singles to Ryan McLaren and Darren Stevens and their were 3 run outs.

Kent then batted and got the runs with 4 balls to spare and 5 wickets in hand. Robert Key batted through the innings and got 68 off 54. Without him Kent would have struggled to win this match. Joe Denly was the second highest scorer with 31 off 20 and Matt Walker getting 18 off 24. Other than these batsman the rest failed with no one else making it past 2 runs. For the bowlers their were no multiple wicket takers with Naved-ul-Hasan, Mushtaq Ahmed, Saqlain Mushtaq, Michael Yardy and James Kirtley each taking one wicket. The result of this game meant that Kent would face Gloucestershire in the final

The opener Hamish Marshall top scored with 65 off 49 balls, Mark Hardinges got 39 off 35 and Jon Lewis made a timely captains knock with 17 runs off 10 balls whilst none of the other batsman passed double figures. In total they ended up with 8/146 off 20 overs. For Kent Ryan McLaren took 3, Yasir Arafat got 2 with singles to Lasith Malinga and Simon Cook and one run out.
