Group D - Pakistan v Zimbabwe

Not really sure what to expect from this match.

Zimbabwe still has a chance to advance. Pakistan are going home. Some of their players surely didn't even want to play this match. It's Inzi's last match as captain. Will they win it for Woolmer? Will they want to make sure they don't go home with 3 straight losses?

Tough to say. Afridi is back for them though.

Pakistan 1 Imran Nazir, 2 Shahid Afridi, 3 Younis Khan, 4 Mohammad Yousuf, 5 Inzamam-ul-Haq (capt), 6 Shoaib Malik, 7 Kamran Akmal (wk), 8 Mohammad Sami, 9 Rao Iftikar, 10 Umar Gul, 11 Danish Kaneria

Zimbabwe 1 Vusi Sibanda, 2 Friday Kasteni, 3 Chamu Chibhabha, 4 Stuart Matsikenyeri, 5 Brendan Taylor (wk), 6 Sean Williams, 7 Elton Chigumbura, 8 Prosper Utseya (capt), 9 Gary Brent, 10 Chris Mpofu, 11 Tawanda Mupariwa

Zimbabwe won the toss and will field first.

Re: Group D - Pakistan v Zimbabwe

Pakistan 49-1 after 12 overs.

The wicket to fall was Akmal, who opened today.
Malik and Nazir are the current batsmen.
Obviously the Pakistan batting order is in flux today.

Re: Group D - Pakistan v Zimbabwe

182/1 after 32 overs.
Clearly you could see the Pakistanis under pressure to win this one. They can't go back home if they lose. It remains to be seen how many runs they end up with at the completion of their overs, and what the Bangladesh response will be.

Re: Group D - Pakistan v Zimbabwe

Inzamam out for 37.
That'll be his final ever ODI appearance with the bat.
Emotional scenes at the ground.

Pakistan 159-3 after 28

Re: Group D - Pakistan v Zimbabwe

The commentators really need to stop jinxing people. They are too good at it.

"With these batsmen [Afridi and Nazir] in, they can easily post more than 350."
......Afridi gets bowled two balls later.

"Nazir has a real chance at making a double hundred today."
.......next ball, he is caught out.

"That's in the air, there's a man out there, he's out for sure....OH NO"

I hope they sing New Zealand's praises against Canada tomorrow @|

Re: Group D - Pakistan v Zimbabwe

Pakistan all out for 349.
Imran Nazir with a very impressive 160.

There's no way Zimbabwe is chasing 350.

Looks like Ireland can safely book their spot in the Super Eights!

Re: Group D - Pakistan v Zimbabwe

that would certainly be great, the first associate team to make to the super eights in World Cup History

Re: Group D - Pakistan v Zimbabwe

Looks like they're going to start play in about 5 minutes!!

Pakistan will need to bowl fast if they want to get up to 20 overs before the light gets too bad though.

Re: Group D - Pakistan v Zimbabwe

game shortened to 20 overs

Zimbabwe has a revised target: They need 160 runs in the next 8 overs!!!!
Flying pigs will have a snowball fight in hell before Zimbabwe scores 160 runs in 8 overs.

Congratulations Ireland!

Re: Group D - Pakistan v Zimbabwe

57-5 after 14 overs

Zimbabwe needs 136 runs from the next 6 overs.

Can they do it?!?!!?
I'm sitting on the edge of my seat.

Re: Group D - Pakistan v Zimbabwe

20 runs from the next over, including 3 straight sixes, and its still not enough!

77-5

They need 116 from 5 overs now.

Re: Group D - Pakistan v Zimbabwe

Yousuf comes in to bowl the final over and gets the last wicket with his first delivery!!!!

That's the biggest smile I've ever seen on Yousuf's face!

Zimbabwe all out for 99.

Re: Group D - Pakistan v Zimbabwe

Yousuf has the greatest bowling average in the history of the world!!!!!

He's bowled a grand total of 2 balls in ODI's, has given up one run, and taken one wicket.

He has an ODI bowling average of exactly 1.00

Who needs Pollock or Lee when you have Yousuf instead!!!

Re: Group D - Pakistan v Zimbabwe

i don't know, his economy rate is still a bit high as far as i'm concerned. if he brings it down a bit then we may have a superstar on our hands

Re: Group D - Pakistan v Zimbabwe

Good to finally get a win. Emotional scenes all round.

For me, Inzamam Was one of the best cricketers going around for more than a decade. Has always created controversy, Whether it be about bashing spectators, His Weight, "That Match" Or some absolutely Exquisate batting skills. Inzi, You are, My favorite Ever Cricketer. May you find some peace and relaxation in that crazy nation known as Pakistan.
