ICC World Cup Group D Game 1 - West Indies vs Pakistan at Kingston

The first match is upon us.

Should be one of the better ones in the first round too.
Both teams will feel they have something to prove.
Pakistan has a lot of players missing and will want to win without them, while the West Indies surely have high hopes about winning this whole thing, and they'll certainly want to get started on the right foot.

Re: West Indies v Pakistan, Group D

I'm a bit surpsied that Ian Bradshaw isn't playing!

Pakistan won the toss and will field first.

Pakistan team

Re: West Indies v Pakistan, Group D

The World Cup is underway people!!

Gayle gets a single off the first ball of the innings.

West Indies are 0/1 in the first over.

Re: West Indies v Pakistan, Group D

77-3 after 23.4,
Sarwan, the lone bright spot for the West Indies so far, is gone for 49

Lara will have to hit some boundaries here, or they won't be putting up a very challenging score today

Re: West Indies v Pakistan, Group D

100/3 at the moment.

would like Kaniera to get some wickets. he's on my fantasy squad on battrick!

Re: West Indies v Pakistan, Group D

126-3 after 34

Samuels and Lara are trying to pick up the pace a little here.
At least the West Indies have done a decent job of not losing too mnay wickets, so with any luck, they'll have some big overs towards the end here.

Re: West Indies v Pakistan, Group D

156-3 after 40

Okay guys, the wickets have been saved. Now it's time to start swinging.

Re: West Indies v Pakistan, Group D

168-3 after 41

Okay, that was a good over. A 6 from Samuels and a 4 from Lara.

Re: West Indies v Pakistan, Group D

Lara gone for 37 on the next ball.
West Indies 168-4 after 41.1

Now it's up to Dwayne Bravo to make a productive appearance with the bat.

Re: West Indies v Pakistan, Group D

Samuels out for 63

West Indies 181-5 after 44.
Ramdin bizarrely comes in ahead of Dwayne Smith.

Re: West Indies v Pakistan, Group D

Ramdin stumped for one!

The 2 Dwayne's are in now. One of them will need to score a lot, because there's not much batting left.

184-6 after 45

so much for any hopes of a decent total

Re: West Indies v Pakistan, Group D

The Windies are falling quickly now! I've been watching for less than half an hour and 3 wickets have been taken!

Re: West Indies v Pakistan, Group D

I'm wondering if they will get to 200 runs.
However, the target should be reachable for the Pakistanis

Re: West Indies v Pakistan, Group D

Dwayne Smith was the one who was swinging!
He's out now, but he scored 32 from 15 balls.

223-7 after 48.2

Re: West Indies v Pakistan, Group D

Dwayne Smith is single handedly keeping the West Indies in this one. His strike rate is over 200! 222-6 after 48 overs.

Re: West Indies v Pakistan, Group D

50 overs are done and the Windies get to 241, including a six on the final ball of the over. Very good finish, considering the position they were in near the middle of the innings.

Re: West Indies v Pakistan, Group D

Corey Collymore hit a 6 on the final ball of the innings!
I think that's his FIRST SIX EVER!!

241-9 isn't the worst total ever, especially when you consider how slowly they were scoring for most of the morning.

Inzamam will be a little disappointed they gave up so many runs towards the end, but the total still should be achieveable.
