Re: Intercontinental Cup 2007-8

Looks like there's no hope for the Scotland-UAE match. Day's 2 and 3 have been completely washed out.

Tough luck for Scotland, as they'll be picking up a draw against a team a lot of other teams will look to pick up a win against.

Re: Intercontinental Cup 2007-8

Scotland drew with the UAE, Netherlands defeated Canada by 45 runs, Canada defeated UAE by an innings and 228 runs and Scotland defeatd the Netherlands by an innings and 59 runs.

After 4 teams have played 2 matches Canada are on top with 26 points. Scotland are second on 23 points because of a draw they had due to rain, Netherlands are third on 14 points and UAE are in fourth on 3 points. Still yet to play a game are Bermuda, defending champions Ireland, Kenya and Namibia.

The next match is to be played between In form side Scotland and defending champions Ireland from the 9th to the 12th of August.

Re: Intercontinental Cup 2007-8

The Ireland v Scotland match ended up as a draw because of rain. Scotland made 314 all out and Ireland made 7/473. Andre Botha made 180 and Alex Cusak made 130 for Ireland.

Ireland got 9 points and Scotland got 3.

Currently the Netherlands are playing Bermuda and Bermuda are 5/86 at Lunch on Day 1. The Netherlands are without some key players including Ryan Ten Doeschate due to county duties however they should still be able to easily win.

Re: Intercontinental Cup 2007-8

The Netherlands smashed Bermuda to take top spot on the table on 34 points over Canada and Scotland are on 26 points however Canada have played 1 less game than the Netherlads and Scotland. Defending champions Ireland are only on 9 points but have only played 1 game compared to Scotland's 3.

Re: Intercontinental Cup 2007-8

Why crap teams like UAE and Bermuda are playing?? I am quite sure that Denmark or Uganda could have taken their place. Also Canada is now a mercenary team with no whites. Earlier they had one or two from BC. Now no one is there.

Re: Intercontinental Cup 2007-8

Namibia are 1st with Kenya 2nd, Scotland 3rd and Ireland 4th. The rest of the teams are a long way behind these 4.

Re: Intercontinental Cup 2007-8

It was always going to be those 4 teams that would be leading from teh front. They have solid cricket set up's a few players that play in first class level cricket around the world.

Re: Intercontinental Cup 2007-8

I hope Bangladesh are in this competition next time around, they are not good enough for Test Cricket at the moment.

Re: Intercontinental Cup 2007-8

Would have thought Ireland and Kenya would be leading at this point. Seems Ireland hasn't had access to a lot of its first eleven players with some notable names from last year's World Cup campaign missing. Namibia are having some tournament also, didn't expect them to be on top of the ladder at this stage.

Re: Intercontinental Cup 2007-8

There's a great game on at the moment - Ireland v Kenya. Ireland posted 578 in the first innings with both O' Briens and Andre Botha getting centuries. Ireland now need just 4 wickets to win by an innings from the last 44 overs. Kenya have done a great job hanging in there to make the draw a real possibility. Apparently this is the first time they've made 200 in their 2nd innings. And the last partnership was looking like it would never be moved. But Rankin just got the breakthrough, fingers crossed for a collapse! ;)

Ireland 578/4 dec. Kenya 186 and 244/6 - 44 overs remaining.

Just need 3 now from 24 overs, real chance here.

2 from the last 14 overs now - botha gets an LBW ... in his first over, just shows you it's worth trying everything when a game is bogged down.

Re: Intercontinental Cup 2007-8

Good to see Ireland get through. Kenya are in a bit of a downturn at the moment but they are still a half decent team.

Re: Intercontinental Cup 2007-8

The final is on at the moment, Ireland v Namibia. 35 overs into the first day and Namibia are 82 for 3. Seems fairly finely balanced for the time being.

EDIT: Spoke too soon, 82 for 4 now.

Re: Intercontinental Cup 2007-8

Argh, don't bother - that rout I was predicting .... came an innings too late :(

Namibia posted 250 and now have us at 46 for 5. >:\

Re: Intercontinental Cup 2007-8

I hope I don't jinx it, but there has been a fantastic comeback by Johnston and Cusack. After the score being 37 for 5, they've managed to get things moving to 170/5. 31 overs left in the day now, 80 runs would see the scores level.
