Ladder after Round 2

Code:
Team M W L T N/R Pts Net RR For Against
Kolkata 2 2 0 0 0 4 +3.764 334/39.0 192/40.0
Delhi Daredevils 2 2 0 0 0 4 +2.988 275/28.1 271/40.0
Chennai 2 2 0 0 0 4 +0.975 448/40.0 409/40.0
Rajasthan Royals 2 1 1 0 0 2 -0.692 297/38.1 298/35.1
------------------------------------------------------------------
Bangalore 2 1 1 0 0 2 -3.423 248/39.4 387/40.0
Mumbai Indians 2 0 2 0 0 0 -0.254 367/40.0 374/39.4
Kings XI Punjab 2 0 2 0 0 0 -1.365 373/40.0 408/38.1
Deccan Chargers 2 0 2 0 0 0 -1.669 252/40.0 255/32.0

Kolkata sitting on top undefeated and a very nice Net Run Rate (NRR), along with Delhi and Chennai who are also undefeated. Rajasthan round out the top four with one win with Bangalore in 5th with one win also but a shocking NRR, which could prove crucial in the later rounds. Mumbai are in 6th and lead the teams with no wins, their NRR should they win will see them up to 4th. The Kings XI Punjab and the Deccan Chargers also have no wins and they will want to get on the board quickly.

Kolkata setting the pace at the moment with Delhi hot on their tail. Chennai seem to be the third best side so far.

Bangalore 3 1 2 0 0 2 -2.765 383/59.4 525/57.1
Mumbai Indians 4 0 4 0 0 0 -1.958 637/80.0 711/71.4

Chennai sitting on top and could move one game clear of the rest with a win tonight. Rajasthan Royals up to second now but they have played one more game than the teams below them and will have to rely on them losing to stay in second. Kolkata and Delhi are 3rd and 4th but have a game in hand over 2nd placed Rajasthan and 5th placed Kings XI Punjab. They can both consolidate their spots in the top four if they win their next games.

Deccan are 6th after getting their first win but they have played four matches and are still a bit behind those in the four, they will need a few more wins to challenge for a top four spot. Bangalore are 7th, their quotient is terrible and they will need a few wins to rectify that. And finally, Mumbai are last, winless and with an ordinary quotient, they will need to starting winning some games if they want to make the finals. They will have to do it without Harbhajan Singh as he has been suspended for the rest of the tournament.

8 Bangalore 5 1 4 0 0 2 -1.886 729/99.4 894/97.1

Chennai still the only side without a loss and they are sitting pretty on top of the ladder. Rajasthan have come from nowhere to take second, they've won their last four games. Delhi are in third with six points and also the best NRR of any side in the competition. Kings XI Punjab are in the four after starting the tournament horribly, they'll be pleased with that effort.

The early pace setters Kolkata are now in 5th place, the loss of their international players has hurt them badly. Deccan sit sixth with only one win but their NRR is good for a team with four losses, if they can get a few wins on the trot they could crack the top four soon. Mumbai are off the bottom into seventh but their NRR is still very poor and not having Harbhajan Singh will hurt them although they won without him on their last outing. And finally, Bangalore are last, things just not going their way at the moment, they will need some wins soon to stay in touch with the top four.

Not too far away from the halfway point of the IPL, been pretty good so far and it will only get better from here.

8 Deccan 6 1 5 0 0 2 -0.200 938/112.0 949/110.4

Rajasthan's thumping win moves them into 1st place, who would have though that after their first game? Delhi, Punjab and Chennai are all tied on four wins with Delhi's superior Net Run Rate (NRR) seeing them in second spot.

There's a handy two game gap back to Kolkata who are in 5th, they were the early leaders but have since lost their last four games after quite a few international player departures. Mumbai and Bangalore are also on two wins, Mumbai have won their last two and actually look a better unit without Harbhajan Singh. Bangalore's NRR is still terrible though.

Deccan are now last with only one win from six games, their NRR isn't too bad for a team with one win, if they can string a few wins together they should be able to get back into the four. Their form of late though might make that a hard task.

One of the worst chokes you will ever see in a game of cricket. Mumbai were cruising but when Tendulkar was run out they panicked and a flurry of wickets saw them fall short by one run. There was also five run-outs in the Mumbai innings, including three in a heart-stopping final over.

Another bad choke, Chennai were cruising at 0/61 after nine overs but the losses of Patel and Fleming lead to panic stations and Chennai just couldn't recover losing consistent wickets in the process.

The top four is set and they will finish in that order. The only positional change that is possible from the last two matches if if Mumbai wins tonight, they will finish 5th should they win. Rajasthan will be the IPL's first ever minor premiers while Deccan become the competitions inaugural wooden spooners.

The BCCI probably would have hoped for more of a fight for the last couple of finals spots, the top four has been set since Monday Night.
