Re: Kenya v Bermuda, 3rd ODI, Nov 14

news in on Ouma's injury.

Romain missed the ball of Kamande's bowling in the 28th over, it hit Ouma on the left side of his head (he wasn't wearing a helmet).

He should be ok, but will require stiches and has some swelling.

Re: Kenya v Bermuda, 3rd ODI, Nov 14

Steve Tikolo and Tanmay Mishra guided Kenya to a seven-wicket win over Bermuda to claim an unassailable 2-0 lead in the one-day series.

Tikolo smashed 60 off 77 balls and Mishra 64 off 76 to guide the home side to victory with 25 balls to spare after losing Maurice Ouma (18), David Obuya (27) and Tony Suji (11) as Kenya initially struggled to three for 83 after the match was reduced to 42 overs per side. Saleem Mukuddem was the best of the Bermudan bowlers with two for 33 off seven overs, while Dwayne Leverock returned figures of one for 20 from his nine overs. Kenyan opener Ouma smashed his way to 18 from 16 balls before being trapped lbw by Mukuddem to leave the home side one for 33.

Mukuddem then removed Obuya the same way with a inswinging delivery and Suji was easily caught by Kevin Hurdle at short fine leg off Leverock to bring Tikolo and Mishra together at the crease to guide Kenya home. Tikolo, who was dropped by David Hemp on 20, struck six boundaries while Mishra smashed one six and eight fours. Janeiro Tucker had earlier top-scored for Bermuda with 52 from 68 balls, while
Hemp struck 41 from 52 after being dropped by Nehemiah Odhiambo while on just four.

Man-of-the-match Thomas Odoyo returned figures of four for 25 off nine overs, which included a comfortable caught and bowled to remove opener Kwame Tucker who managed just three from 15 balls. Kenya will look to complete the series whitewash on Tuesday in the final game of the three-match series.

Re: Kenya v Bermuda, 3rd ODI, Nov 14

Well, that was a pretty one-sided series.
It would be nice if Kenya could peak in time for the World Cup though.

Kenya certainly seem to be improving at about the right time. Most of the team have now pretty much chosen themselves. A couple of question marks still remain, and there is still much work to do, but it is beginning to look up.

To my mind, this is how the starting team for the World cup is shaping up:
? denotes a spot still undecided. (indicates the main role they are expected to play), * indicates they are a top class fielder. This may be a big call, but I think we will be one of the most impressive fielding sides in the windies...

1. Ouma (wk) (bat)
2. ? D Obuya* (bat) probably, possibly Ravindu if he gets match fitness and form back
3. ? Malhar Patel (bat)- this spot still needs someone to make it their own
4. Tikolo *(cpt) (bat & bwl)
5. Mishra *(bat)
6. Odoyo (v cpt) (bwl & bat)
7. C Obuya *(bat) looks unlikely to bowl again for Kenya
8. ? Kamande **(bat & bwl) is looking the best here at the moment, especially as he is taking wickets. He just needs some runs to cement this spot.
9. Odhiambo *(bwl)
10 Ongondo (bwl)
11 Varaiya (bwl)

I'd rather Bermuda did to be honest.

Well, I only said it that way because it looks like Kenya has a far better shot at performing well in the World Cup than Bermuda does. It would be great if Bermuda performed well next March, but I have higher expectations for Kenya right now.
