Leg-spin bowling - The Leg-Break

Top Ten Tips for Bowling Leg Breaks

1. Spin it hard and always have a ball or something around that you're giving a big flick - even when you're indoors watching the television.
2. Practice, practice, practice and then just when you think you've done enough practice more.
3. Practice with purpose, concentrate and really focus on what you're doing - as a Leggie practicing on your own or with a wicket keeper is probably the best way.
4. If you can work with a coach - do so.
5. Get a copy of Peter Philpotts book 'The Art of Wrist Spin Bowling' and read it and go back to it whenever you need to.
6. Work on accuracy - both line and length, being able to turn the ball is not an excuse for have bad line and length.
7. Keep it simple - start out bowling to the Off-Stump looking to turn the ball away from the edge of the bat, it'll help if you stray towards the Leg-side and limit your wides and keep you run rate down.
8. Familiarise yourself with the videos on-line (See video links on this forum).
9. Wrist-Spinning is hard - probably the most difficult discipline in cricket, so be patient and think about your development as a Leg-spinner over a period of 2 or 3 years.
10. Use this forum, there's several blokes on here that'll do as much as they can to help you out.

Good luck and remember, if you get it right and you commit to wrist-spinning you can expect to be one of the biggest wicket takers in your club if your put the hours of practice in.
