Looking for quick singles? - The Cover drive push
Are you facing a really fast bowler who's dragging it down offstump at a half volley length and you cant seem to get bat on it? You don't need to whack it for 4, you can just push it into the gap and run. I like to call it the Cover Drive push.
Step 1: Know where the gaps are
Step 2: Make sure you know where your offstump is, this shot can be played when the ball is on off stump or just out side.
Step 3: Make sure you get your foot to the ball, about 2 centimetres away from it and keep your head over the ball.
Step 4: Just make sure you time the ball fine and just push your bat out onto it, play it like a front foot defensive, put your bat on an angle and just give it an extra push.
Step 5: In the follow through of your shot walk a few steps and get ready to run the quick single.
This is a great way to keep the score board ticking over and get the quick singles to build your confidence.
Hope this helps the batsmen struggling against fast bowlers who bowl on the offside!
