mmvca why is it that you will not answer my question. That to me is saying that my information is correct.
As they say - Nothing says a 1000 words.

Do you guys need a wheel jack to put the wheels back on at your club?

I believe that St Mary's have all sides playing finals this year and if that's the case and "the wheels have fallen off" then imagine them when things (if they aren't) are running smoothly big danger sign for the rest of the comp in all grades wouldn't you agree?

Re: MMVCA General Cricket Chat

back to the cricket lads.......

now lets give predictions for the weekend.

1 who will win?

2 name a player in each team that will be the match winner.

3 who will produce the performance of the finals?

my selections

1. St marys and West Cob to win

2. Hunter to take 5+ wickets, Newton to take only 2 wkts, with appleyard taking a bag of 6

3. surprise packet to be Nader making 60+ to steer W Cob to victory.

good luck all

As the lower placed side you have to take control of the game. If i was Jolley I would think I would have the bowling to bowl out Wests pretty cheaply on a deck that helps so I would bowl first and then bat accordingly. Warren has a diffrent thought 'maybe', batting first and getting the runs on the board and then rolling St mary's. It's hard because as soon as a ball is bowled and loss of time would mean ordinary conditions so as a captain you would look at doing what you believe your strengths would be first. personally I would bowl first given the wicket will be damp if not wet but the only downside to that is that I've always believed if a side batting second sees what the wicket does they head in to bat waiting for the wicket to do funny things

What would you do if West or St Mary's Captain won the Toss?

If in ordinary conditions, post a score batting aggressively and give yourself enough time to bowl them out. Without rain delays you would have to bat your overs as a minimum, you need to give yourself every possible chance of winning given the conditions and the likely influence they will play on the results today. As the higher finishing side you don't want it to be a second day on monday, have to get on the ground either saturday or Sunday. Glenroy & St Andrews then have to win the game

my thoughts, i reckon paul newton should stop bowling slow and fire up!!!! ;)

Totally Agree!!!

His mother has more get up and go and certainly puts the fear of god up me!!!!!

Did something wrong there,is a bit soft and too nice to be a fast bowler.

Still,he might get lucky and get a few over the next couple of weeks,i can only hope.

Sometimes you just have to put up with what youve got or havnt got.

The key finals players:

West Coburg - C. Appleyard is a dangerous commodity and needs to pick up some big early scalps to set the tone for his side. Will be dangerous with the new ball and can offer a bit with the bat also.

Glenroy - W. Parker is a confident opener who will take on the new ball bowlers and will be prepared to roll the dice in the hope that it comes off. He will be hoping for some solid support from his fellow top-order to set a decent target.

St Andrews - G. Tapner is the big occasion player who always lifts when the big prizes are on offer. With the sun slowly coming down on an illustrious career, he will be seeking to capitilise on the few opportunities his side may have for premiership glory.

St Mary's - J. Cacchione has been a key for his side this year with the new ball and will look to further enhance his reputation as one of the competitions leading bowlers. He is handy with the bat but can occasionally socialise on the evening before games and will sometimes put his cock before the team.

Predictions:

St Marys to just get over Glenroy and St Andrews to easily account for West Coburg.

Your a harsh man dragon.

Wests should be clear favorites to win, as they finshed clealry on top and rolled St Andrews at Cole and are playing at home this time.

But cricket is a funny game, lets hope the weather holds

KD, some interesting comments there. Have to agree with most, Cal needs the support of Adams who was good against us. Both of them make you play and that's the key on what should be bowler friendly wickets. Glenroy's captains influence goes without saying but I think his middle order needs to be as good as they have been since Xmas for them to get over the line. St Andrews have 2 sleepers one being chris David who has been quiet but also Dave Jolley who has been asleep by his standards. Both need to patient this game as Wests will be up which will suit both batsman. Both play very well off the front foot. St Andrews have a habit of scoring lots and take the pressure of their bowlers who in turn bowl well. St mary's batting is the key hunter, harris and especially Brown can take the game away from Glenroy very quickly and early in this semi- beware batsmen who are very happy to take on bowlers when conditions favour the ball. Interesting games- Glenroy should be too strong for mary's and Wests to out bowl St Andrews.
Good luck boys and all the best

mmvca what i have been told you have are one of the main guys that have been hard to manage this year! Your attitude the game we played this season was terrible. If it was not for your close friendship with B.Hunter you would've or should've been playing in a lower grade.
Hopefully you can have a good final series and leave the game on a good note, as i dont think you are going to be a big loss next season. I think it's time that St.Marys cut the dead wood and started to blood some young kids.

Good luck this weekend.

You seem to know a lot about St Marys, can you tell me anything about their thirds, we are playing them tomorrow and they seem to have come from nowhere, what are their strengths and weaknesses??
