W'hey it's on real tele (the highlights at least) 3/4 of hour on channel 5 at 7.15pm! Well done the Daily Telegraph and Channel 5!
Boo to digital and thank god I've still got my old analogue tele in the kitchen because the digital signal like all digital signals was crap! Digital TV is the biggest con on the planet along with SKY TV.

Good day for England and as someone has said, save for McCullum England were well on top. Need to get the last 4 wickets early doors and then build a 150/200 run lead.
As for Jones, I'd love him to come back but he needs to play a summer of cricket and show that he is over his injury problems.

Mccullum deserved a centruy. Not much resistance from other Kiwi batsmen. England are in firm control, no doubt about that.

Good day for England again, got the kiwis out for under 300, Sidebottom seemed back to his best and we managed to get to 68 without loss, despite it being a stop start day.

Yeah what a pile of rubbish that is - light meters and all that. I saw one of the Umpires trying to explain it and what he came up with was a total pile of tosh. Light is light no matter where it is in the world. They should agree one specific Lux measurement that they all agree is the minimum and that is the same throughout the world. So if it drops below a the standard Lux measurement the game stops whether you're a umpire from the West Indies, Australia or Sweden irrespective of what you perceive to be good or bad light!

I went to "watch the cricket" yesterday and Thursday but saw more of Bucknor holding up a lightmeter than anything else. Why do they have the bad light law in these days of superb protective equipment? The only reason to come off for bad light would be if the spectators can't see the middle as they are paying!
I wonder if Twenty20, somewhat rediculously, will become the saviour of Test cricket in this country. Right now we're the only country in the world who gets a full house for Test crickt, but that will soon end if there are more days like the first two at Lords and Twenty20 continues on its upward curve. If grounds want day/night Twenty20 they'll have to invest in floodlights and they could then be used for Tests, saving Test matches as a spectacle. Unless that would be the wrong sort of light?

I totally agree. And that Lux measurement should be viewable by all spectators - it shouldn't be some kind of secret!

I think England have an outside chance of winning the match but it's largely based on how many runs they can get today and how quickly they get them. The Kiwis should fall over if given enough time but to get that time England need to up the rate - something obviously not happening right now!

We had to try to force a result but great batting by Oram led NZ to the draw. Another disappointment for England at Lords.
Onwards to Manchester and a better ground for England in terms of results, Tremlett in for Hoggard in the squad, although I would expect an unchanged team.

hmm, I think it depends if the selectors want to mix it up a bit before the South Africa series or see if Colly can get back into form. If it was me, I'd be tempted to keep the same team as the worst they can do now is draw the series.

I don't think we'll see any changes for the final test although one or two are on rocky ground. Collingwood needs a score, he looks very out of form and was scratching around out there again. Some decent time in the middle is needed.
Bowling is still a concern for me at times (as well as the batting), just feel we lack a consistent match winner. If Simon Jones can last the summer without further serious injury then we could well see him back towards the end of the South African series.
