Panesar fined for excessive appealing

England spinner Monty Panesar has been fined 25% of his match fee for excessive appealing during the fifth Test against West Indies.

He does go over the top at times, which often works against him. Can't fault enthusiam but you do need to rein it in at times.

I'm all for 'working' the umpire, as it's part of the game but leaping around like you have crabs in pants etc isn't the best way of doing it.

A good description that, I like McGills down on one knee approach. There was an infringement for multiple appeals as well - was that Monty?

May have been Khan but I'll put that down to first test nerves.

Key to appealing is to actually make the umpire think that he's doing a good job, then slowly bring him round to your way of thinking.

Anyone remember Pat Symcox? That bloke used to appeal on anything. After a while the crowd started to mock him by screaming 'Howzat' whenever it hit the batter's pads.
