Results Round 2

What happened this round?

Geelong College Vs Scotch

Scotch good win. College batted 1st, got 153.
Graham solid 29, same as yr 8 Jack Wood. Miller and Grosse pick of the bowlers. Noodles 24 off 10 at the end.

Scotch won in 43.5 overs....
Pick of Colleges bowlers were Beaumont. Thats it. Pretty poor bowling effort on our behalf. Buler bowled well.

College bowled 39 extras!!!

Mo Clayton definitly under performed, getting an uncomprehensive 23, and they had a maggot yr 8 who was too confident for his own good. GIVE HIM CHEEK!

skevs 9/186 defeated brighton 10/160ish (49.2 overs)

skevs started alright but never reli got going on a slow, crumbling pitch which proved difficult to bat on. karageorgiou backed up his 84 with 33 and hoppe was lookin good until copping a good nut from roney.
brightons bowlers tied us down in the middle overs but lachie roberts occupied the crease and brought up a decent 50. stubbZy made 29 and was disappointed to miss out on the paper. jack lees bowled wel at the end in picked up 4.

brighton came out and never really looked like they were goin to get the runs. roney stayed in for a while and woulve made about 30 but no one els looked like makin runs as skevs steamed home. wickets to turnbull (3), karageorgiou (2), hoppe (2), clancey (1), griffiths (1) and someone mustve got the other one.
good game and skevs showed they may be in a for a long-awaited decent season.

Haileybury batted first and made 7/216

R. Wakefield, M.Wakefield, Coleman and PAttinson all made starts of over 20 but all gave it away. Williamson came in a 5 and batted well although being dropped off the spinner for around 20. He ended up with 50.
Maxim Allen bowled well pickin up 4-40 and all the other bowlers did ther job.

Chasing Wesley made 2/220 off 46 overs

Dodgey start to the innings losin 2 quick wickets within 10 over but then Ash Munas and Hamish Gairns built a solid partnership of over 150 with H.Gairns making 108* and Munas 88*. A solid batting performance showing what Wesley are capable of after a poor display against Carey.

its not our yr 8 its ur yr 9 bowler who was too cocky. giving him lip after our yr 8 smashed him for 2 consecutive 4's. not his fault he's good

Scotch simply dominated from the word go....31 off 17 over was simply dismal by the 2 Geelong College openers who battled at best......some good bowling by scotch throughout the innings, the highlight being little mickey collins taking 4/20 off 10......Scotches Mo Clayton looked a treat (as usual) and was dismissed by a bad shot to mid wicket.....Ayrton Eldridge batted a beautiful 43* and was scotches "Arildite" holding them together for most of the innings.....Scotch easily came through with wickets in hand for a deserved victory...

Kitchen is the only good thing college have going for them...otherwise a team that limped to a dismal 150 odd......there yr 9 is a little arrogant hack who got pummeled by a far superiour younger player in conner o'bierne....jamie mcmillan again behind the stumps was flawless...jamie for president

MGS vs GEELONG GRAMMAR
on the flattest pitch ever seen geelong made it look hard but mgs were clinical. Voyage got 3 wickets in 4 balls james land 2-6 of 6 and betts got 2for 26. geelong grammar bowled out for 87 in 24 overs. MGS got home easily 1 down . charles Shaw and debutant tyrone bean both 40 not out.

Cricket 013 shut your mouth and tell that little pinner year 9 kid to shut his as well. What kind of a cricketer comes in to First X1 Cricket who is literally about 150 cms weighs probably no more than 40kgs, comes in acts like he's some sort of hero. Thinks he's Brett Lee, yet he struggled to push 60 km/h i would say. I think today established that Conor "The King" O'Beirne is an exciting prospect. And besides what do you expect from a little beandick who bowls half trackers at the king, then he tried to be a good bloke and apologize to The King. What a joke. O'Beirne > Wood and everyone at Geelong College seemed like good blokes except for their supporters and their little beaner with an attitude problem who made a golden quacker. Nice mate.

did we mention wesley played average today and that haileybury should have only got 180 as wesley dropped 3 catches!!!!

Carey just lost, didn't play near as well as they can though.
Score in the paper was completely wrong.

careys fielding wasnt up to the high standard it usually is and bowlers didnt bowl the best xept for potter and ohern hoo bowled well

Carey gave about 35 runs to the batsmen from misfields and stuff. Our first game on an oval other than home. Heaps different

Xavier Vs Carey

First of all, as a xav id like to say that Carey are a good bunch of blokes. better than most teams anyway.

Xavier bowled first and had Carey looking bad at 3/14 but then Richardson and Chancellor put on a good partnership. Chancellor batted extremely well for his 49. Richardson solid. Lanning batted well too for 40.

Best of the xavs were Jack O'Sullivan with 4 wickets (took 3 against Scotch first round also) and Andrew McGorian troubled all their batters to take 3 good wickets.

To careys credit they worked their tail well and ended up with 196.

Xavs lost an early wicket with Will Ryan gone for 4 in the first over to some pretty good bowling from Potter.

Goss and Grigg put on a solid partnership until Grigg was gone for 22. Cross came to the wicket and again batted well til he was gone for 15.

Curtain and Goss put on another great partnership with Curtain and his classy ways smashing balls everywhere with timing and class.

Goss went for 36 to a stumping, deemed dubious by some.

Curtain smashed them to go on his way to 40.

Some lower hard hitting saw Xavs over the line with 2 wickets to spare. Some shots were debated but still a win.

Let me say this, Xavier have no where NEAR played their best cricket yet and will hope to do this against Haileybury this week.

While carey were not at their best xavier did wat they had to do to win, and that is the mark of a good side, while a determined captains knock from chancellor gave the carey side a glimmmer of hope poor fielding and bowling lead to a hard earned victory to a xavier side, a side with some of the better blokes in the league, a much better side then wesley on and off the field, willl have no trouble with HC next week.

To beat haileybury the key is pressure as they expect to walk all over the other teams so just stop the boundries and b on your toes in the ring and they will probs panic. This is wat happened against wesley as ther was a couple of run outs and much more poor running between the wickets due to pressure and them panicing. Gd luck Xavier.

yeah, we had 2 run-outs in one over which turned the game.
Once you get on top, they should start crying, Munas who was on 70* backed out of a ball whilst the bowler(wakefield) was running in, and wakefiled still bowled it and it hit the stumps (munas was on the side of the pitch at this time) and wakefiled was tellin him he is out and havin a sook etc... really bat sportsmanship from them.

But i reckon they will be tough to beat this week coz they'll be really wanting to bounce back
