Reverse swing?

I was training a youngster the other day. He was bowling with 2 balls (alternating each ball); one was a new ball and the othe a really old one with both sides rough.

With the new ball he was getting consistent out-swing and with the old ball he was getting very little swing if at all.

Then all of a sudden he bowled a peach of a ball with the old one. Just before pitching, within a space of about a couple of feet the ball swung one way and then the other way, eventually straigtnening up. It was total magic! But having having said he could not repeat that.

Was part of that reverse swing?

do you mean the ball swung out and came back in, sort of swinging both ways in the same ball?

Reverse swing is where the ball swings the opposite way than expected, swinging towards the shiny side of the ball
