My first instinct is NSW has too many "star" batsmen that would be best at no. 3 or 4, and not enough grinders to protect the team from a collapse. I haven't done research on this though so I could be wrong.

The bowlers are good, but they weren't good enough on a batting pitch like Adelaide Oval. Whereas for me Stocks fired in the first innings and Moldrich in the second, which in the end was probably the difference.
