We were always coached to make a figure 4 with our legs when sliding for a ball, by having the bottom leg bent at the knee and the other leg over top of it straight. Though I always found if I didn't get down low when i was going into the sliding motion my bottom knee would take the full force of the dive/slide.

yeah some fields arent suitable for sliding... make sure u have a rough idea of the ground conditions 1st... if the field is dry or rocky... u r going 2 cause yourself a world of trouble...

also 1 thing i have found, when u r going 2 slide (on a suitable field) make sure u r 100% confident.... going 4 a slide 1/2 hearted can cause just as much damage...
