Season 37 Squad:

Name: Bryce Sidebottom
Nickname/s: BS, Sides
Age: 26
Batting: Right hand bat, 1168 runs at 16
Bowling: Right arm fast, 360 wickets at 25
Role: Bowler
Bryce is one of the best bowlers going around, very fast, able to move the ball both ways and deadly accurate. He's proven quality and we expect him to continue delivering this season. He knows how to hold the bat, too, with an average in the mid-teens.

Name: Graham Stocks (vice-captain)
Nickname/s: Stocksy
Age: 24
Batting: Left hand bat, 3185 runs at 38
Bowling: Right arm fast medium, 183 wickets at 25
Role: All-rounder
Graham is an all-round amazing talent. He was denied the captaincy after the merger with Adelaide City in favour of Ryan Smyth, but took it in the best possible way and has been a leader around the club in every way, invariably the first to training and the last to leave. Talented in all three disciplines, Stocks is arguably the best player in the competition and if he fires it will go a long way toward a South Australia championship victory.

Name: Erik Pimblebee
Nickname/s: Pimples, Wizard
Age: 24
Batting: Right hand bat, 2583 runs at 48
Bowling: N/A
Role: Wicketkeeper-batsman
Erik took the longest of the three retained SA players to adjust to the change in environment, but he has since settled in and is primed for the new season. His batting average is phenomenal, though it will be itneresting to see how he fits into the lineup with Ryan Smyth, Lee Cardomone and Christopher Dow to contend with for his preferred lower middle order slot. His keeping is also very capable, but he will probably relinquish the gloves to Smyth while he settles into the lineup.

Name: Eric Lawrence (veteran)
Nickname/s: Laurie
Age: 31
Batting: Right hand bat, 2169 runs at 12
Bowling: Left arm medium fast, 425 wickets at 31
Role: Bowler
It is a mark of the strength of SA's bowling stocks that, in his farewell season, Eric will probably struggle to get a game this season. He has been a consistent performer for a long time, with his left arm outswingers netting him a wicket every eight overs, and his useful Gillespie-style defensive batting which has won more than a few close games. He will be missed when gone.

Name: Ryan Smyth (captain)
Nickname/s: Smythy
Age: 27
Batting: Right hand bat, 5457 runs at 39
Bowling: N/A
Role: Wicketkeeper-batsman
Since taking over the captaincy of the club midway throguh season 33, Ryan has turned from fighting it out for his spot each week with Jake Romes to one of the first picked each week. A rock at number 6 in the order and near insurpassable with the gloves, he has gotten better with age and is a worthy captain and great leader on and off the field.

Name: Lee Cardomone
Nickname/s: Cards
Age: 24
Batting: Right hand bat, 3079 runs at 36
Bowling: N/A
Role: Middle order batsman
Lee has a lot of talent and has attracted a lot of trade attention over the seasons. Only struggles with injury has interfered with his ability to find a regular niche in the side, and he will be looking to correct that this season.

Name: Russel Matthews
Nickname/s: Rusty
Age: 22
Batting: Right hand bat, 2749 runs at 31
Bowling: N/A
Role: Opening batsman
We are still convinced we've yet to see the best of Russel. He really fires when he gets into the zone, he just has to find some consistency, and we feel he's on the verge of a breakout season. Having been drafted as an 18-year-old, he has already gained plenty of experience and has plenty of time left in the game.

Name: Wally Timmy
Nickname/s: Troll
Age: 27
Batting: Left hand bat, 5036 runs at 35
Bowling: N/A
Role: Middle order batsman
Wally is one of the more frustrating batsmen out there, with a penchant for going on long runs without scoring, or getting himself out at inopportune times. That said, he is a sublime strokeplayer and can destroy a bowling attack on his day, and if he can find that kind of form he will be a fixture in the middle order.

Name: Christopher Dow
Nickname/s: CJ, Junior
Age: 21
Batting: Left hand bat, 2328 runs at 39
Bowling: N/A
Role: Lower order batsman
Christopher is a very accumulating, agricultural sort of batsman and a gem to have down the order. He spent much of last season in an unfamiliar position up the order, and adapted well to finish with an average over 40. The presence of an allrounder in Stocks will free him up to move back to his usual position at 8, and we have high hopes he will continue to develop.

Name: Daniel Hone
Nickname/s: Honey
Age: 23
Batting: Left hand bat, 1500 runs at 24
Bowling: N/A
Role: Opening batsman
Daniel showed just enough last season to keep his spot on the list, scoring his maiden first-class century. He is third in the opening stocks behind Russel Matthews and Rohan Rech, but will get opportunities and needs to make the most of them.

Name: Jerry Moldrich
Nickname/s: Turbo, Richie
Age: 21
Batting: Right hand bat, 236 runs at 11
Bowling: Right arm fast, 118 wickets at 24
Role: Bowler
Jerry is touted as the most talented player in his generation, and for good reason. He pressed the speed gun to its limits in his first season and is still improving, and has taken his career wickets at a staggering strike rate of 33. With the likes of Lawrence and Sidebottom around to show him the ropes, opposing batsmen will in a very short time fear his approach to the bowling crease like nothing else.

Name: Zac Desai
Nickname/s: Zippa
Age: 19
Batting: Left hand bat, 106 runs at 6
Bowling: Right arm medium fast, 47 wickets at 29
Role: Bowler
At only 19, Zac is unafraid to talk the talk and has the talent to walk the walk as well. The most vocal Dingo on the field, Zac bamboozles batsmen with his mixture of cutters, outswingers and slower balls. His only weakness is a tendancy to try too much, but that will come with experience. SA fans have good reason to be excited about this guy.

Name: Rohan Rech
Nickname/s: Roar, Roary
Age: 18
Batting: Right hand bat
Bowling: N/A
Role: Opening batsman
Rohan has a Matthew Hayden-like presence at the crease and has the skill to go with it. Despite his age he is very much ready for the top level and will be looking to secure a palce in the starting eleven. Watch this space.

Name: Ray Higgs
Nickname/s: Ray-ray, Skinner
Age: 29
Batting: Right hand bat
Bowling: N/A
Role: Middle-order batsman
Ray is an incredible talent that very nearly went to waste, but he'll be looking to make up for lost time in the next couple of seasons. If he shows half as much in matches as he does in the nets, he'll take the compeition by storm. Again, watch this space.

Name: Benjamin Cross
Nickname/s: Buns
Age: 20
Batting: Right hand bat, 214 runs at 24
Bowling: Right arm medium, 17 wickets at 39
Role: All-rounder
Benjamin is a handy allrounder with some skill in all departments, but it remains to be seen whether his batting or bowling will be able to cut it at this level. He merits a chance on the basis of his impressive work ethic if nothing else.

Name: John McKenzie
Nickname/s: J-Mac
Age: 29
Batting: Right hand bat, 5614 runs at 44
Bowling: N/A
Role: Middle-order batsman
John is a veteran of the game who we took with our last pick to bolster our batting depth and to provide a mentor for the younder batsmen like Rech and Dow. Proved over long seasons with Queensland that he has the ability, and will get a go if the younger heads start to lose form.
