Towards the end of the season we developed the idea and spray painted strips onto it to create a points system whereby if you hit a pre-designated strip on the mat you scored more points. Interesting, I don't personally think there is a such a difference going on with the advice from the pros. I personally think that Grimmett and Benaud can't be wrong, it's got to be good thing if you can put the ball on a length consistently, or perhaps not so consistently that the batsman can tell where it will pitch before you release it!

But there are other factors. The faster you bowl, your good zone extends shorter, and the more you spin it, the closer you can pitch up to the bat. I think Grimmett was on the slow side, and Benaud wasn't a big turner, so they would have had to have been quite careful.
