No comment on Melton's 2nds score YWL? Come on,what happened?

Amazing days cricket, Melton were very young but a lot of the wickets were streaky, expecting a much tougher days cricket and a proud Club to bounce back next weekend.

Must also be said that was great to see the VSDCA finally triumph over the VCCL. Matt Dean and Wild the stars!

Some very interesting cricket to be played this Saturday! A couple of games right in the balance - first real exciting round we've had this year IMO.
Croydon chasing 145 vs Balwyn, Noble 4/50 chasing Baysy's 158 - the key bats are all out bar Perera. Preston have a tricky chase vs Box Hill. Mt Waverley on the verge of a massive upset against Kew.
And a 1st innings, 1st day thriller between Endeavour Hills and Ivanhoe. No doubt both teams should be sniffing an outright opportunity.

Over in the South/West, Elsternwick a big shot vs Ormond- Brighton with a tough chase and Werribee chasing 258 will give themselves a sniff! Can't wait to see how it all pans out.

Interested to hear if anyone has thoughts on what's happening at Brighton. Is it all on-field?

Only on-field problems at Brighton. New ground is playing well, turf nets have just begun construction and across the 4 XIs we have performed ok. Pretty easy to criticize really. Yes Chris is a 'big name' signing but compared to other clubs, over a long period of time, the BCC's 'spending' would be pretty minimal. For a long time we have relied on a strong junior program.
Ultimately the goal for any club would be to initially attract players who then 'buy-in' to the club and hang around because they love it. Oakleigh have probably done this the best as have Caulfield. But this requires some $ initially.

Roxborough Park seem to be struggling all through the grades?

Obviously not playing in that group, this is very much an outsider's opinion, but at least in the First XI their stats don't look too bad, over 1,000 runs scored (20 more than conceded), and 47 wickets taken, only 12 less than they've lost. Certainly not the indicative numbers of a team in last place. No doubt the loss of 3 or four top end players just prior to the season has adversely affected their depth across the grades, as it would to every club.

Some impressive performances by Willy, Yarra and Kew to be well in contention for the Ken Fewster at the halfway mark, and also credit to Hoppers who look to be well in the race for finals, and I've heard very good reports of their seamless transition into the comp.

Games scheduled for Saturday December 19

A decision regarding fixtures to be played on Saturday, December 19 will be made by the Executive Committee at 9.00 am Saturday morning and will be communicated to players & umpires via sms, twitter, email to clubs, 1900 weather line and Association website.

The Executive Committee has decided that all 3rd & 4th XI games scheduled for Saturday, December 19 and Sunday, December 20 have been cancelled.

1st & 2nd XI games will commence at the normal One Day time of 12.30 pm but will be reduced to an 80 over game(40 overs per side).

Captains and Umpires can make arrangments for additional drink breaks throughout the game, and the innings break can be extended to 30 minutes.

Few interesting results yesterday. Williamstown beating Ormond convincingly in the end along with hoppers beating Werribee leaving oakleigh on top with Caulfield second. Altona Malvern out the 6. Very interesting second half of the year to come in the south/west

Feel we are starting to hit our straps a bit especially with our overseas player getting amongst the runs the last two matches.

Very interesting second half of the season coming up. Don't think the top 6 is anywhere near settled.

Hoppers have had an excellent start but haven't played any of the top three sides, will be a good test for them. Having played at their ground this year though, it is great to have them in the comp, facilities are first class and they are clearly up to the standard.
