The BaggyGreens Thread

Anyway, thoughts on our current position?

Methinks we would be fine if we held onto catches in the first innings.
Looks like we're in a good position at the moment, more so that Starc's just been dismissed. I like the way Stokes is changing the bowling so frequently and it seems to be working.

Bloody hell another collapse when we were gaining a position of strength. Thanks be praised we still have our master batsman to drag us out of a huge hole, as he has done umpteen times over the past decade.

I tend to stay awake till the end of the first session or as you've said it all goes pear shaped. A mate of mine has his ear phones in whilst in bed which is what I do and he has a weird knack of waking up as soon as something happens.
Our resident Pom makes an appearance, better late than never. Welcome Dave. Have missed the chance to debate and banter with you. Bloody odd, both teams guilty of tossing away positions of strength thruout this ebbing and flowing series, was the Aussies turn last nite, but one of our all time greats dragged us out of the mire along with some vital late runs from Cummins and Murphy.

Hoping YankeeCricketer YankeeCricketer is fine as he too said he'd be joining us for the Ashes. If unwell Yank a speedy recovery. The new American T20 comp seems to have been well received. Like to hear your comments if you read this.

Grateful we have our hands on the old mug as I believe we are a bit mentally cooked, as Poms have gotten into our minds over this bashball crap. Fact is we dont know whether to follow suit or bat time or even to do both. Yesterday told a story as we batted so cautiously we were becalmed and the Pommies took advantage after lunch.

Uphill for us to win from here. Again we let em off the hook but there is so little for our best seamers on these shocking excuses for Test pitches. At least Starc is back mopping up their late order.

Mate, I'm not that obsessed with the game enough to engage and analyse the game to the extent you lot do! Definitely not into mud slinging either. I'm guessing you'll be glad to see the back of Broad, but losses of such players are not good for test matches and the Ashes. Close games are what makes the game so interesting and it's spells from greats like Broad that help the game ebb and flow as this test has. I hope tomorrow he has one of his spells and gets your top five cheaply - especially Warner! A first baller for Warner would be great.

The main strategy to win this is and bring home the OLD MUG is sensible batting from our best with our hitters going big but not reckless.

Yes, only because he is a terrific competitor, been a thorn in our side for a decade now, can be a pain in the bum, but I have to say I like the big fellar. ECB will have a huge task replacing Stu and Jimmy for certain.

Naturally I hope that is not the case, Warner will go cheaply or blast a quickfire 100 plus, is well overdue and these are his pitches.

I'd have bet money on Anderson bailing out at this stage, but he's made it clear he wants more of it. Bombshell out of nowhere regarding Broad, but he's got a young family and going out on a high makes a lot of sense.

Bombshell out of nowhere regarding Broad,
Is Stu hanging up the boots end of this match, had not heard. Yes he has gone out on top. Like I say I admire him and he will be a big loss to English cricket. Wish him well in retirement, we will probably here him in the future in commentary, as usual giving the Aussies heaps. ;)

Richie Richie I've seen you don't go a lot on 'Bazball' but, do you reckon your boys will look to modify their game. "Loose bus changes" innings yesterday was kind of bizarre I thought.
Not really, I see it as an abberation on the traditional game. But if your boys win this one then it likely will stay if lose it may go the way of the dinosaur. Loosebuschange has lost the plot, or rather our strategists have, with their thinking muddled by this ECB batting approach instigated by a Kiwi white ball specialist who did not even average @40 over his Test career.
