The Shakib Al Hasan Appreciation Thread!

I love this guy.

He's an all rounder from Bangladesh who bowls left arm spin and does it well. Over the last year in Test matches he has a better bowling average than Vettori, Muralitharan and Harbhajan making him one of the best spin bowlers on the world.

His stats so far:

Tests: 29 wickets @ 27.13, 388 runs @ 22.82
ODI's: 57 wickets @ 33.77, 1376 runs @ 31.27

Plus he can bat a bit as well.

Just noticed that he has a couple of one day tons, that is pretty good going.

Great player, Im on the wagon. The Ajantha Mendis Wagon is inevitable aswell.

I just love his action, So Round arm getting lots of revs on the ball, He seems the most effective product of SLA bowlers so far from Bangladesh. But if bangladesh want to improve as a side they need their batsmen to back their improving bowlers.

Rubbish.

How can he be overrated when only a small portion of the cricketing world would even know about him?

His figures over the last year have been outstanding and as i have said better than those of Murali, Kumble, Harbhajan and Vettori putting him up there with the best spinners in the world.

Do you care to explain what makes him overrated? I suppose to say this you've seen him bowl and know the flaws in his bowling?

ArShad how can you say say he is overrated, he deserves this thread! These numbers are good for any test cricketer, let alone a Bangladeshi.

Yeah and with the standard of Bangladeshi cricket, the bowlers at the other end may be letting the pressure off the batsmen.

I remember him having a good odi against south Africa this year.
I liked his style.
I will find the match stats.
But I am on the bandwagon what a player.

Yes I found it in the second ODI at Dhaka against South Africa in March.
Bangladseh batted first and were 4 - 18 after 7 overs. I and many other viewers and commentators thought Bangladesh would be skittled for 100 at best.

But...... Shakib Al Hasan hit 52 off 157 deliveries and Raqibul Hasan hit 63 off 129 deliveries to put on a 119 run partnership it was great batting against an in form South African line up.

So I have rated him since then.

Oh he is out on 96 would have been a terrific maiden tonne oh well not to worry. :(
