Trampolining

We've recently reassembled our large trampoline in the garden and I was wondering as to it's value when it comes to working on my fitness. I feel that if i am going to improve i need to get my fitness levels higher, so will be investing in some weights soon to work on strengthening the muscles in my arms and shoulders, but i will probably start some sort of a fitness regime over the summer, and was wondering as to the value of trampolining ? I had a quick 10 minutes on it earlier, and i could feel it in my legs, and felt it was a decent workout for the 10 minutes. Liz, any view on it's worth ?

Re: Trampolining

I love the trampoline; its a zero impact aerobic exercise, so it places no strain on the joints as more than 80 per cent of the shock generated by each jump is absorbed by the surface of the trampoline. It improves circulation and therefore the lymphatic system and increases heart and lung capacity. It builds strength, stamina, agility and all round general fitness. It also improves muscle tone around the legs, thighs abdomen, arms and hips.

Compared to jogging, trampolining is more effective, faster and [according to NASA] is 68% more effective. 10 minutes on the trampoline provides the equivalent benefits of a half hour run :D

Every time you land, your body is subjected to twice the force of gravity; this strengthens the musculoskeletal system and helps to prevent osteoporosis. Like all aerobic exercise, it can help you to lose weight and build muscle. You can burn between 100-280 extra calories in a 30-minute session.

Trampolining can help develop your co-ordination and balance.

Re: Trampolining

Come on you guys... if I give you all my secrets, who will want to come and pay for my services

OK, just for you, if you promise not to tell anybody...

For the large tramps, small jumps then land in your back foot position [front foot still raised] and hold - then Shadow bowl and follow through.

With the little trampets, run up, jump, land your back foot on the trampet and hold - then continue.

In both cases, when you 'hold' you must remain still [no wobbling] in your bowling alignment.

No one wants to pay for your services anyway, Liz :p

Thanks heaps.

Re: Trampolining

i spend too much money on hobbies such as cricket, shooting, bikes, golf to be able to pay to look after my own flesh and blood!

lol

Re: Trampolining

It depends on what you are after. Most of my work is referral and as a specialist, my fees are normally between £60 and £90 per hour. It also depends on whether we are talking prehabilitation or rehabilitation.

However, a PT is cheaper and a cricket coach is cheaper still. :D

Re: Trampolining
