West Indies v Sri Lanka: Champions Trophy

The final match of the preliminary stage will be starting in a few hours. Despite the fact that both teams are already through to the next round, there's still a lot to play for. For one thing, the winner of this match can avoid Australia until later in the tournament. For another thing, Sri Lanka currently has a 13-game winning streak going on, so that's either going to continue on to #14, or West Indies will be the team to break that streak today.

Preview for Sri Lanka v West Indies

Re: West Indies v Sri Lanka: Champions Trophy

Should be a very interesting match. It would be nice to see if the Windies can break the winning streak of Sri Lanka

Doesn't look like that's going to happen, Windies are 58/5 after 19.5 overs

Re: West Indies v Sri Lanka: Champions Trophy

This must be the worst game for the Windies, the highest runs so far are 13 and
22. Lara out on 13, and Hinds currently on 22. They just lost another wicket and now they are 58/7 after 20 overs. Run rate currently 2.78. looks like they're heading to be all out for less than a 100 runs

Re: West Indies v Sri Lanka: Champions Trophy

Score is now 61/7 after 23.4 overs

Re: West Indies v Sri Lanka: Champions Trophy

71/9 after 28 overs. By the looks of if they may not even reach 80 runs.

Re: West Indies v Sri Lanka: Champions Trophy

Some superb bowling on the part of Maharoof, he's taken six wickets so far.

O M R W Econ

Re: West Indies v Sri Lanka: Champions Trophy

Windies all out for 80 after 34.4 overs.
Sri Lanka are currently 3/1. This is going to be an easy one for Sri Lanka, the RR is only 1.48

Re: West Indies v Sri Lanka: Champions Trophy

score is no 14/1 after 2 overs

Re: West Indies v Sri Lanka: Champions Trophy

by the looks of it Sri Lanka might finish this game in 10 overs as their current rr is 6.00
they are now on 23/1 after 3 overs

Re: West Indies v Sri Lanka: Champions Trophy

Regardless of how difficult this track is to bat on, that's just a terrible showing. Some terrible batting all around.

Besides the previously mentioned numbers from Maharoof,
Vaas finished with 2 wickets from 6 overs conceding only 6 runs.

Hopefully West Indies will pick up a few more wickets just to make this match a bit more exciting.

Re: West Indies v Sri Lanka: Champions Trophy

not sure who it was, but someone had WI as the runner up team in the prediction thread. i wonder how they feel now :)

Re: West Indies v Sri Lanka: Champions Trophy

Sri Lanka on 54/1 need another after 10 overs. Need another 27 runs for victory. A cake walk for sure.

Re: West Indies v Sri Lanka: Champions Trophy

Lara just talked Koertzen into skipping the lunch break. Thank goodness.
Sri Lanka only need 15 more to win.

Make sense may as well finish it off.

Re: West Indies v Sri Lanka: Champions Trophy

Match Over
final score 83/1 after 13.2 overs.

Congrats to Sri Lanka

Re: West Indies v Sri Lanka: Champions Trophy

Windies will have to do some serious stock taking before they begin the next round . Lara, Chanderpaul, Gayle etc. will definitely have to take it up a notch, if they have any hope of defending their title.

Re: West Indies v Sri Lanka: Champions Trophy

What a one-sided blowout!

So now one group will have Australia, India, England, and West Indies.
The other group will have South Africa, Pakistan, New Zealand, and Sri Lanka.

That was Sri Lanka's 14th win in a row!
Victim #15 would be Pakistan in 3 days.

For the final 4, I think I'll go with Australia, India, Sri Lanka, and South Africa.
