If you are between 14 and 18 years old, have you considered volunteering your services to your club?

If you are a club official, have you considered recruiting youth volunteers?

The benefits to a Club of recruiting young volunteers is obvious to me. Young people are inspirational; they have great ideas which they introduce with such enthusiasm. They can bring the Club alive with colour and music. Using their media skills they can give the Club an identity. More importantly, they are great ambassadors, especially with their peers, which can swell the number of members, providing sustainability.

What can the young people get out of it? Well not a lot, just the opportunity to have fun outside the school environment, gain education/qualification opportunities, develop good citizenship skills, gain confidence, a sense of pride and... its really good for the CV ;)

Over the last five months, I have been working with some extremely rewarding young people completing their ECB Young Leaders Awards and I am really looking forward to working with them as volunteers.

Would you do it?
