Don't lug 'every' club in to this argument....it's poor form and shows a lack of respect for that club trying to make some coin. It's not like the prices at clubs are high. Agree, nothing can be done about it, but it's still a shit look.
Agree with Step 1, but whilst step 3 has merit, it simply needs to be 1 day cricket after the Shields, or at worst, after the 'Reserve' comps.
Some clubs 3's and 4's are playing in the one day grades and are playing finals as they are made up of blokes who can't or don't want to commit to 2 day...
Are there any other actual serious posts for people giving actual ideas forward to try and fix the comp, or is it all just piss and wind? If there's enough people who 'seriously' want to fix things, maybe stop bullshitting and give it all some serious thought.
Change the 35 over format to 28 or even 20 per side .... or start play at 11.30am; these games are normally done by 5, so they'll be finished by 4 or earlier. Show a little bit of imagination and work around the situation at hand.
Watsonia Forecast - 30 for Friday / 39 for Saturday / 35 for Sunday / 35 for Monday
Ridiculous that all G grade games, to be played by old(er) blokes and kids has no adjustments, and some teams will need to play Saturday and Sunday (in a Prelim) with kids also potentially playing on the Friday...
What are you on about? Two changes to the team from the previous round, that made 228 and flogged Research. Hardly resting the team and playing kids...
I think there's a distinct advantage to the team that bats on Day 1 of a Saturday / Sunday game. Shield grades playing on the following weekend, keep the Sunday free if needed, gives a lot of people a great chance to attend and see the climax of that grade.
Couldn't agree more, numbers are dwindling with more and more blokes working on Saturdays and unable to commit to 2 day cricket, kids are bored of the thought of fielding for 68 overs, so many reasons why....
....the age old response of, "it produces better cricketers", please, they can go and...
Because the 'ideal' number, which has been spoken about often at high end DVCA talks, is 32, but then they would have to bite the bullet and reduce Barclay by 3 teams in 1 season, and we all know how well that was received when the ill-fated NCL was muted in years gone by, Ideal to have 4x8...
Why wouldn't you just keep DC 2's or ask Epping 2's to come up in to Mash for a season. I am sure either of those clubs, or others would see it as a challenge and an opportunity.
