    Wrist Spin Bowling (part Five)

Yes, I practice in synthetic too, but that’s a baseball pitch, so I thought it would be different. Well, that’s good news for me. I will try to bowl some before the game to gauge the pitch. Thanks a lot. I will try to increase the pace.

Hey guys, have a match tomorrow. Just wanted to ask if any of you have experience with artificial pitch. Does a new pitch (our league just installed a new artificial pitch) offer more or less spin? If I want the same turn as before should I lower my speed or increase it? Share your experience...

Yeah, it is beautiful. Though big city has its own pros, for example they have cricket fields. We have to make do with baseball nets for practice, and go to the next city for the league (50 mins drive).

Yeah, so much free space. It was a shocker when I first moved in.

There are lot of players in Alabama too, particularly in Atlanta. There is also a huge community in Texas. We do have some occasional interest from Americans. For example, we recently taught cricket to some high school kids. But it’s still at superficial level.

Yeah it’s getting some traction here now. The major league may hit it or miss it. Seeing how big of a population is from Indian subcontinent, there is a chance that it might flourish unlike football 🤞

yes, is that all due to speed? I mean, it’s still 7-8 yards. Can’t it be transferred to 22 yards? For pure side spin, the ball doesn’t turn as much as the one with backspin.

    Wrist Spin Bowling (part Five)

I am in Tuscaloosa, Alabama right now (grad student). We have a league in nearby city in which our team participates in.

    Wrist Spin Bowling (part Five)

Yeah it is depressing. I want to bowl more overs, but not possible here. For the backspin with side spin, it may come down to speed. Maybe you get big turn when the speed is low? You can try it on a smaller pitch, I am sure you will see big turn, and you will certainty notice the grabbing of the...

Wish I could have participated in a higher over format game like you guys @Leggy88 @doc8176. Our league is 20 overs (fall) and 25 overs (spring). Also we get to play in only 10 games 😢.

My use of the flick is confusing. I meant the flick you can do to go from normal leg break to let’s say orthodox back spin. So by flick I mean rotating the palm direction from conventional leg spin to something of a orthodox back spin. So if you flick hard enough, you get orthodox back spin...

@SomeblokecalledDave. so you flick your wrist just before releasing the ball, so that all the top spin is gone and you are left with only side spin? And once you flick too much and impart backspin, it becomes a slider? Is that what you are saying. (I hope the flick makes sense.)

    Wrist Spin Bowling (part Five)

So backspin doesn’t help with the turn? Because I have seen that in small concrete pitch, the ball with backspin actually turns a lot. I can feel it has backspin and it grubs the concrete turning a lot. 🤨

Too much greedy for turn 🤣

That’s so sad for me 😥 Don’t think I will have the chance to play in real turf here. All of them are synthetic pitch. I will just keep at it, who knows maybe someday…
