I experimented with something called frame interpolation that attempts to create new artificial frames inbetween the real ones to create a super slow motion version of the Shane Warne Action. It doesn't look too bad altough at times there are some artifacts created. edit: If anyone wants to...

    Wrist Spin Bowling (part Five)

Works but you should use footage that doesn't have the writing in the way. I can upload an mp4 file without the writing in h264/aac codec with the 50 fps version if you want? I'll upload to dropbox or something similar and you can download it and redo if you want. edit: Here it is for anyone...

    Wrist Spin Bowling (part Five)

Found this by changing the search to first grade Twenty20 Cup. So S. Macgill might be playing this Sunday 27th Nov. http://www.sydneygrade.nsw.cricket.com.au/showrvcontent.aspx?matchID=1082702&entityID=4&loc=/cricket/reports/match.asp&loc1/match.asp

    Wrist Spin Bowling (part Five)

I want to go see him bowl as I live in Sydney, never ever been to a cricket game since I don't like sitting out in the sun all day doing nothing, but seeing Macgill bowl is an exception. Does anyone know if he will be playing for sydney uni in anything other than T20 matches? I've tried looking...

Tmpegenc is the video encoding software, photoshop is just the photo editing software. I don't know what's out there that is free. I haven't looked but I'm sure there are lots video's on youtube to show how to make the gifs. Yeah I'm not too sure, but his arm reminds me of a trebuchet, where...

Used tmpegenc to crop & deinterlace the dvd with interpolation double frame rate to get the 50fps(and not blended 25fps) & then outputed as seperates jpg's. Then used adobe photoshop to insert the jpg's and create an animation. Witht the jpg's with individual frames I used the manual method of...

    Wrist Spin Bowling (part Five)

That's probably the case for a bit of overspin with leg-break, since we can actually see see both index and middle(1st & 2nd) fingers in the cameras view as the ball has left the hand, and not index finger hiding behind the middle finger if it was then the rotation of the ball would be pure side...

    Wrist Spin Bowling (part Five)

Just thought I'd try sharpen it up and see if a little more detail shows up, what do you guys think? Out the side of the hand, side spinner?

    Wrist Spin Bowling (part Five)

I can bowl a kind of back spinner but only whilst clenching both the index and middle finger pulling back on the seam just like in the footage, not using the thumb. only for holding the ball. It's not pure backspin but it kind of shoots out the hand slipping out with mostly side spin and a...

    Wrist Spin Bowling (part Five)

We will never know what exactly is happening unless we get the uploader to give us the original footage & if it was recorded off the telly properly in which is probably 720x576 interlaced format so we can see all of the 50 frames/fields and clearer ball rotation, but the that will never happen.

    Wrist Spin Bowling (part Five)

I've looked at it again and again, experimenting myself with a cricket ball. I now think/believe that the index & middle fingers are playing a similar role to that of a fast bowlers grip. making the ball rotate towards the palm of the hand. The only difference is it's being forced to spin by...

    Wrist Spin Bowling (part Five)

Hmm. Then I guess those missing frames in between are what shows the topspin with the middle finger running over the front of ball. I just don't know enough about video cameras to know if it's possible to have that middle finger leave a blur behind the ball(in front when looking at it from the...
