Re: Was the don that good ?
I think you'd be surprised by how little the War and the Great Depression impacted upon playing stocks at the time. Yes, many players were lost to the War - but Test Cricket was also suspended during that period. Playing stocks Post- War would have taken a while to...
Re: Western Suburbs Churches Cricket Association
Yes... Which is why I'm a little astounded by WDCA claims that they wouldn't be particularly competitive in B-Turf.

Re: Western Suburbs Churches Cricket Association
I've only watched on while WDCA games were going on, and i'm not interested in getting into a shit fight, but the standard isn't so good that the Willy Congs would struggle if they merged with St Johns plus a managed a couple off season recruits...

Re: Was the don that good ?
... And if he was around now he wouldn't have been nearly died because of appendicitis. He wouldn't have had to deal with constant health problems. He would have the advantage of playing against weak teams (the English team were rarely weak). He wouldn't have lost...
Re: Bridges?
Honestly... for overall strength, bridges aren't particularly helpful anyway.
I'm not generally a big t-nation fan because of the amount of crap bb stuff included, but here are a couple of switched on different takes on core training that are more effective and infinitely more...
Re: Western Suburbs Churches Cricket Association
I obviously picked the wrong weekend to go away. Gotta say, definitely had a bit of a giggle when I was told about Chris.
And while I know nobody is all that interested in the actual scores, can anybody gimme a hint about who scored the runs...

Re: bowling and fielding tactics?
It would probably help to know whether you're playing on grass or mats, as well. Also the quality of the bats.
Either way, a lot comes down to the the quality of your bowlers, and your ability to keep it tight. I don't think you're giving yourself enough...
Re: Your Boys!!!!? Call it here and ONLY HERE.
Toughie as I haven't seen a huge amount of state cricket this year...
I had claimed the Pom a couple of years back, but he's letting me down in style - So i'll drop him. The [Not so] Bald Eagle, Doug Bollinger was also a big hit with me -...
Re: Western Suburbs Churches Cricket Association
We would love to have one. From what I understand though, unfortunately due to drought, etc. the Melton council won't support it unless we finance the installation and maitenance of it - something that, as a new club, we aren't equipped to do...

Re: Western Suburbs Churches Cricket Association
I think I first played against the St. Johns oldies four years ago. If they are anything like they were then, then they're still contributing a lot to the comp. As a sixteen year old, they were never short of encouragement or a helping word...

Re: Western Suburbs Churches Cricket Association
I'll give it a go... But only from things that I've seen first hand.
Best Batting Knocks - Troy S from the Willi Congs hit an 80 odd against us that was really good - wore a lot from a rough pitch and motored through it all. I'll reluctantly pay...

Re: Western Suburbs Churches Cricket Association
I would have been nothing but a sideline supporter, but this is an absolute disappointment. I don't know how this can sit well with any person, club or member of the executive. The easy and convenient decision has been made - the wrong one has...
