Re: World Test Team Of The Decade
Why am I the only person to mention Mohammad Yousuf (formerly Yousuf Yohanna)?
Statistically he has the second best average (58) of any batsmen 2000-2009 - and overall he comes in at number 3 for any batsmen in the 2000s (Andy Flower 2000-2002 is at the...
Re: World ODI team of the decade
Really, your talking about an era when that method had already become well and trully established. The era of 220 scores had ended probably 10 years before Gilchrist and Hayden came on the scene. I guess what you are trying to say is that Gilchrist and Hayden...
Re: Pakistan in Australia
I disagree - Butt was going along fine, and Khan was just starting to find his feet. Then Butt fell and everything fell apart after that.
As for the referrals - like the commentators were saying, all it needs is for the 3rd umpire to step in and tell the umpire...
Re: Pakistan in Australia
Asoka de-Silva should be sacked immediately for those two LBW decisions. The difference between de-Silva and Taufel is all too obvious.
Re: Pakistan in Australia
In the absense of a Pakistan selection thread...
I'm a bit confused as to why Imran Farhat has been left out so far. I really don't see why Kamran Akmal needs to be opening. I would suggest drop Umar Akmal (his last dismissal was an embarrasment and one which I'm...
Re: World Test Team Of The Decade
pretty balsy bowling selection Mousey - 2 line and length medium pacers only - 1 being an all rounder. As good as McGrath was, he couldn't really operate effectively without a genuine quick striker at the other end
Re: World ODI team of the decade
Strange that you think Hayden is the best one day opener considering he only played 20 something matches. As for the subcontinent players, I think the stats would surprise you. Take my 2 subcontinent openers for example and you will find that their record in...
Re: World Test Team Of The Decade
Be aware that based on that team, you would either have 2 spinners or 2 all-rounders. Presumably you would only want 1 all-rounder? I guess the type of surface would determine whether or not you want 2 spinners - but either way its still a gutsy decision...
Re: World ODI team of the decade
Sure, you could probably justifiably put the Australian ODI team as the "best" world XI - but that kinda defeats the purpose of this exercise. So after the Australians, I can fairly comfortably say that the best ODI players come from the sub-continent.
In that...
re: World Test Team Of The Decade
Langer - what the hell??!! There are so many better openers - Smith, Gambhir, Sehwag etc
1. Hayden
2. Sehweg
3. Ponting
4. Lara
5. Yousuf
6. Kallis
7. Gilchrist
8. Pollock
9. Warne

Re: Pakistan in Australia
Presumably he was saving his strike bowlers for the powerplay.
274 - very gettable you would think, though Pakistan has a pretty strong bowling line up
Re: ODI Australian Team Of The Decade
Clarke and Marto - either would be preferable to Bevo in the 2000s - but most of all Lehman who is one of the best one day batsmen I have ever seen
Re: ODI Australian Team Of The Decade
I don't think Steve Waugh played any ODIs this decade - though I could be wrong. Mark Waugh was dropped in about 2002 as well. Bevo was well and trully past his best by 2000 and didn't play very long after.
re: Australian Test Team Of The Decade
Which decade - 2000-2010?

6. Gilchrist
7. Johnson
8. Warne
9. Lee
10. S. Clark
