Rule 1 says "VTCA 2012/13 Rules, except as varied hereunder, shall apply" and Rule 3 says "If the team batting first is dismissed in fewer than 20 overs, the team batting second shall be entitled to bat for 20 overs" which matches the one-day rules. The idea of a one-day game stopping once a...
I see Daykin has scored his third century in as many matches. That's surely an uncommon occurrence in the VTCA. Possibly made even rarer by his other two innings this season, in the first game, being a king pair.
They are looking good, Port, as they always do when Daykin scores runs...
The point of my comment was the usefulness of the questions on the captains report where they mark the ball. How is the VTCA going to make sense of the answers when they do not know which ball was being used?
OK. So lower divisions can use either Platinum or Gold balls. How does the VTCA then use the information provided by the captains as to the quality of the ball, if they (the VTDCA) don't know which ball is being used?
It seems very odd to me that the captains can effectively decide which balll...
I've just looked at the ten seasons from 1926/63, forty years earlier. The First XI played on the first Saturday in October 8 (eight) times. I don't believe that can be explained by changes in the weather - it's all down to changes in the way councils prepare grounds.
Like others, I would be...
Not smarter, but with better access to records. My club's 1st XI (various South Divisions over that period) has played just once in the last ten years on the first Saturday of October. October 7 2006, as late as possible to have the first Saturday.
So closer to 40 than 30. Actually, now you've got me interested. Looking at my records, I can distinctly remember my team making the finals by just 4 runs (and definitely calculated by bonus points, not percentage) in 1972/73. I can remember hanging off the phone as we got the scores from the...
I agree. I can't remember when the then VJCA introduced bonus points, but it was quite a long time ago (30 years plus, perhaps). But it doesn't really make sense. Using percentage to separate teams on equal points is easy - even easier as I assume MyCricket can do all the sums for you - and...
I think there should be a reserve day every season - perhaps even two, one before and one after Christmas.
I guess the problem being the need to play on a Sunday. But in principle, I think we should be doing everything we can to ensure that every round is played.
Presumably with McKinnon's 3rd XI playing in South Seconds there will be now be a bye in South C1? The fixture for that grade has not been released as yet, which does seem to be leaving things a little late...

Interesting. I'm sure that the proposals said that the rules would be voted for in their entirety, so I'm surprised to see any changes. Agree that while we have bonus points then completing the 40 overs makes sense.
Good point about the run-out. Yes, it's odd that there is no mention of anything different for off side bowling. Very half-ar**ed implementation of what are pretty standard one-day rules.
