Yeah, its tough, I've had it a a couple times. I usually just try and really simplify things during this period and bowl from standing starts until I get the feel back again.
That's unlucky mate. We've all had those sort of weeks. And the worst thing about it? When you land it in the right spot, coming out of the hand well, like you said, some days you just get hit for four. Hopefully better results next week.
I wouldn't say it's been well documented exactly, many commentators and people have labelled legbreaks, even the FLIPPER as sliders. Would be very confusing for anyone learning leg spin.
Damn. My highest score of all time is only 3 runs over your highest last season. I too am not a very quick...
Ok fair enough then. My team is similar except we don't really have a lot of bowlers or batters. Hence why I open the batting (with really bad results of late btw - average of 8 from 7 innings) and usually bowl the maximum overs possible. Our fast bowlers don't usually get on a roll and pin the...
Damn, do you guys play mostly t20s or something? I usually play half and half, half t20s half one dayers. One dayers I usually get 8-10 overs, t20s 2-4.
Wow, you must hardly play any games or your captain mustn't have bowled you much before unfortunately. I remember my first season as a leggy (I've had 3 seasons so far) I bowled 120 overs in 22 games. Second season bowled 75 overs in 15 games, third season 50 overs in ten games. I don't really...
Only thing I'm struggling with the flipper now is when I'm bowling it, the timing of the 'flip' action at the right arm position in the action. If I get it perfect, it comes out super fast, but if I get it slightly wrong it comes out a bit slower than my legbreak which is not ideal.
I bowled...
You could be bowling at the stumps more too maybe? Getting more turn as well, leading to more stumpings and batters missing the ball and getting bowled?
Nah synthetic isn't really a turning track. Backspin goes straight on, and usually overspin is the best way to get turn, at least if you are bowling at a decent pace (which you are for sure).
Only on really conducive and turning tracks would this happen. I guess because the backspin makes it 'hold up' in the pitch and grip more on turning tracks, thus having more time for it to translate into turn?
Hey all, tried going 'around the loop' today and it went pretty well. Cool to see how you can get batters misjudging length when going from more sidespin to more overspin, and vice versa. However, 2 out of every 6 or so deliveries that I would bowl would stray down the legside. Any general...
Just had a look at the videos Zitju, yes I'm pretty sure all of them had varying amounts of drift. Generally when you are bowling it is almost impossible to pick up any late drift.
Ok well to explain how to get the full topspinner (though its not perfect, and as Dave said it's no worry getting a little turn either way) I will have to outline something first. When you bowl most deliveries (apart from flipper), your thumb should always be pointing or in line with the way it...
After reading Philpott's book, I've realised the slider is probably just any leg break with a bit of backspin. Key words - 'a bit'. Doesn't need to be a lot, cause just a bit will change the ball from dipping with the topspin to carrying through more with the backspin and skidding on.
P.S - If...
Wow, 9-10 degrees of spin is all you could ever need to be honest. Still try and rev more though if you can without messing up your performance. Who could not want more revs?
I've never had problems with googly syndrome for some reason. I've been able to develop them at a ratio of 1:1 or so.
I have a theory why this is. When I take my thumb off the ball, I literally cannot get any revs with leggies hand to hand. The ball just comes out weakly with around 20% of the...
