Think you are confusing the comments Scratch. The earlier discussion was about the pitch at Lakeside, not EE Gunn.
Certainly no complaints about the wicket at Ormond.
Might be worthwhile acknowledging that the VSDCA did not propose their exact competition as an alternative, what they did propose made a lot of sense and was respectful to both the histories of the District and Sub-District competitions, while also allowing inclusion of all other turf clubs...
There is a big push from CA to have all T20 competitions on MyCricket from next season, so this will likely make it easier to follow. The ladders were all put on Twitter last night, @SubbiesCricket.
If you cannot access that I'm sure someone can copy and paste it for you and others here.
Very disppointing, but if you knew how many clubs actually do the right thing all the time you'd soften a little on the calls to 'follow up'.
I hope the boys get another chance to be duly recognised.
Yeah, I was going to ask the same if they were nominated in time. The selection panel is the same as for the representative games and TOTY, chaired by Paul Bain, and including a senior player from each of the four groups. Does seem a mystery that those obviously credentialled boys missed out...
Hatch Dinner tonight.
Thoughts on award winners:
Val Holten Medal - 1st XI
James Earle Medal - 2nd XI
William Tucknott Medal - 3rd XI
Ted Plant Medal - 4th XI
Anthony Gale Medal - Best U21 Player
Kookaburra Team of the Year - 12 players in batting order
Always a good night, looking forward...
I think the results from the south teams is cyclical. Malvern & Brighton in particular have been very strong for many years now, but as wiht Elsternwick as well, they are transitioning the talented and well performed 2nd XI cricketers into their top side, which has created a chasm of experience...
Will be an unbelievable effort to top Willy's own Craig Sheedy from a few years back, but agree Ayresy would be an unbackable favourite right now.
The only other guys who could even be an upset chance are Mawzoon, Maynard, Damiano, Pradeep, Pritchard and Wild. I think in likelihood though they...
Devlin, McCarthy & Ross played in the final. Price, Brambleby & O'Keefe all played at some stage during the round robin matches as well.
The PV U21's are worth keeping an eye on, a lot of talent coming through out North.
All very good and valid points raised about the older and younger players - what about the concept of if the weather will be over 40 (or 35) that 3rd & 4th XI matches revert to one day fixtures on both weeks.
This limits the time spent on the field for all players, but doesn't take away the...
Would be also remiss of me not to acknowledge DJ, the OCC wicketkeeper on achieving 200 First XI games. Has probably been unfairly compared to batsmen/keepers throughout his career, but is as good as anyone I've seen with the gloves.
320 dismissals, and an outstanding batting average of 14...
