no doubt you are correct Westland. Curators deserve more recognition for their efforts amd did a brilliant job during the heat to ensure that pitches were ready to play on. Players and administrators all need to be better at recognising the efforts that are made bu curators and council staff to...

I think all the rep cricket compliments each other. Many of the boys playing in the VMCU carnival at under 16 level, would have played in the Hatch competition the previous year. Players improve enormously between the ages os 14 to 17 and a big part of it is the rep carnivals that they play...

regardless of peoples views on the heat - I actually think Hatch is a brilliant competition which gives talenetd 14 year olds the chance to play 6 games on great grounds. By playing 6 games coaches get a chance to juggle the batting and bowling orders around and each kid will normally get a...

I actually think they handled it very well and it was a sensible compromise. 9.00 start and 30 overs per side worked out ok. Last day was cancelled because the top 2 in each group could not change. Kudos VSDCA

The East West group is very interestingly poised. Werribee (42) and oakleigh (36) are the 2 stand out clubs and would be the 2 sides most likely to play off on the last weekend. Bayswater (36), Altona (30) and Noble Park (30) look like the next best and will all be pushing to finish as high up...

bad luck to the rep team today who lost on the 2nd last ball - just can't get a win over the country boys but making 269 is a good effort

Oakleigh v Melton will be a cracker on Saturday as will Plenty Valley v Ormond. A big week ahead with 12 points up for grabs over the 2 weekends

I guess we all hope that clubs and curators will do their best to bring up the best wicket they can regardless of the situation of the game

Plenty of POMS running around this seson and some of them look very handy. They are already having a big influence on games. Yaraville v Melton must have been a cracker of a game

Noble Park must have played well against Oakleigh - they could be very dangerous in the East/West division with a really solid bowling attack and a gun spinner

Hats off to the association for making a great decision and to all the clubs that managed to get grounds prepared for todays play. I am not sure what the total numbers were but it is great that the day was played in perfect conditions and so many players managed to get a good day of cricket in.

that would be disappointing - hopefully it is a 'report to grounds situation' and the clubs thaty do the work and put in the effort are rewarded with cricket this weekend. The grounds that aren't ready can have a one dayer the following week

I am not trying to protect anyone - just don't know where you draw the line regarding off season activities. Is he allowed to surf, bike ride, run a half marathon, play basketball, or bat in the nets if they are a bit soft? There are many ways to get injured and it is disappointing for Mick...

This weather is spectacular and we have had a kind winter - hoping that grounds are looking good and an October 5 start can be achieved. The 2014 AFL Footy season is starting on March 14 next year so we should be encouraging our councils to have our grounds ready to go for week 1. Westland -...
