Re: Wrist Spin Bowling
Was he trying to convince bowlers to pitch it up to him though :D
If you're getting charged a lot with your loopy ball, fire in a quicker flatter one on occasion to get the batsman thinking twice about getting stumped or the like. You do want him coming forward and...
Re: Fisher Bats
Haven't heard of them either - I assume it's an Aussie only company? Can't find any reviews online either, but they do look good. Professional looking website and branding - good celtic design ;)
Can't go too far wrong with a handmade english willow bat - and there's a decent...
Re: Cricinfo "Minute"
I think the powers that be (aka the BCCI :p) are on to us. Today's episode is a measly 1 minute 12 seconds - if you ignore the jingle at the start it's practically under budget. Nice to know that world cricket is starting to reign in it's excesses. :D
Re: need help in batting
I've been playing a bit of indoor cricket recently, and it is nearly impossible not to get run-out if you're going for one off every ball. What I've found helps, is if you trust your partner completely and assume the call is YES on every ball that is hit until you hear...
Re: Breeno's Blog
Sounds like ye were unlucky to lose both games, especially the Druids one after being so much on top. Still, it's early days yet and the signs are good for your own performances - before the season started what were you thinking of as a good haul for the season wicket-wise...
Cricinfo "Minute"
Does anyone ever listen to this daily news report? Is it just me or is the minute getting longer ... today's one clocked in at 1 minute 57 seconds. Perhaps a re-branding is in order? :D
Re: Intercontinental Cup 2007-8
There's a great game on at the moment - Ireland v Kenya. Ireland posted 578 in the first innings with both O' Briens and Andre Botha getting centuries. Ireland now need just 4 wickets to win by an innings from the last 44 overs. Kenya have done a great job...
They're everywhere man!!
Long overdue update!!
I keep meaning to post but I've been so busy the last few weeks it just hasn't been an option. And on top of that, there's no formal cricket coming up so I've not much to motivate my posting!
Having said that, there is still cricket going on...
Re: wristy batsmen
I would guess that the subcontinent produces a lot of wristy players due to the amount of slower and spin bowling they face. There's a bit more time to get into position and it's safer to guide the spinning ball into a gap than try to smash it and have it do something...
Re: In Swing
As a bit of a "quick fix" while you're sorting out your inswinger, maybe you could bowl a ball cross-seam to make sure it goes straight. So bowl a couple of outswingers until the batsman is playing for the swing - then the cross-seam ball with the same action which should go...
Re: Bowling Tips
I like that - good way of putting it.
I reckon coaches focus on the technical because most of the tactical comes from experience - they supply the tools and it's up to the cricketer to learn how to use them effectively.
Re: New Zealand in Bangladesh
Vettori was talking Bangladesh up in the last few days - which should make the press conferences this evening a bit easier :) - he can say "I told you so". Doubt he'll enjoy it much though.
Great win for them - was it Bangladesh that were recently decimated by...
Re: Australia in India
Hear hear. Is White the next man in? Looking forward to that. Can't wait to catch the highlights on TV later - I can't believe it's so long since I last saw international cricket!
Re: gundalf's cricket blog
Wow, sounds like it's all coming together great. Hopefully you can build some momentum to carry into next season - just a pity it's so far away!!
Is there anyone at nets that can help you with your batting? Is this just a temporary dip in form do you think, or have...
Re: Australia in India
Nice work from Ponting, ably assisted by Katich and now Hussey. The run rate is decent too (~3rpo). I'm surprised that it is a batting pitch at all - everyone was predicting a pitches you could turn a ball inside-out on to favour the home team? Though I suppose it...
Re: Wrist Spin Bowling
Seems a good plan Dave. If you think about it - a ball that spins but is on a crap line or length isn't dangerous and will probably get tonked. And a ball that doesn't spin but pitches in the right place is dangerous and probably will be defended. I remember you came...
