Re: Geelong Cricket Chat 09/10
Respectfully suggest you want to ensure a few of those guys in your 4ths play higher, and don't use irregular availability/one-day cricket as an excuse not to do so. Some are good players but there's not much point in having a very good 4th XI whilst the 2nds...
Re: 2010/'11 GCA Promotion/Relegation
Because of the subjective (in parts) system used, that would be impossible. Refer CheerCheer's post earlier on this thread; some of the points awarded are based on the opinions of GCA management (or members thereof) at the end of the season and can't be...
Re: 2010/'11 GCA Promotion/Relegation
Last year the ups/downs were probably decided at/by the GCA May management meeting, and advised to clubs in mid-May. The GCA AGM is not till July; they do the draw for the coming season after that meeting, so the gradings are well known by then...
Re: Geelong Cricket Chat 09/10
They do not win the premiership as they are the lower-ranked side.
We had an OK year, all things considering. Finished 5th in GCA2 club championship. 4th XI won GF today, 5th XI lost to your blokes. What specifically do you want to know?

That's an incredible oversight. :) Always dangerous to believe it must be right if the computer said so. Also seemed like some of the batting/bowling details in some of the sections as reproduced in the stats book handed out hadn't been filtered correctly as...

GCA presentaion night last night. A few observations -
GCA2 champion player (the one based on points for runs/wickets/catches) was Leigh McAuliffe from North Shore who played 4ths all year. Didn't know that with the advent of MyCricket, that was how the GCA...

Joeys lost a wicket first ball of the match (to a LBW) in GCA1 1sts and were soon 4-19 with both Morgan and Fanning gone, so did pretty well to bat all day and scrape a competitive 161 together. So I'd say early pressure rather than the wicket in this case...

Seems no-one on this form wants to talk too much about the dramas of the last week. Either because of political correctness or because no-one looks at this thread any more?
It was an interesting outcome, probably not one many saw coming with all the emotive...

Your 3rds game was amazing viewing from the ground next door. Thomson 7/43 chasing 71 and in comes a bloke (Ash Foord) who tries to belt every ball out of the ground...and I mean EVERY ball. Finally succeeded in sending one somewhere near Barwon Heads Road...

Waurn Ponds and Thomson in GCA2 4ths developing quite a rivalry. First the WPCC walk-off earlier in the season, now the dramas as per page 3 of today's Addy (Tuesday).
Yes Little River "almost" beat SABCC in GCA3 1sts. Would have been the upset of the season...

Curses! I thought that line would reel you in with an angry anti-GCA response. You are getting mellow in your old age crktluva!
By the way, you're right, I don't expect anything will come of it.

Re: Geelong Cricket Chat 09/10
Winter Reserve track not playable last Sunday for GCA2 match Waurn Ponds v Murghe. Not sure whether it was even covered once rain started falling Saturday afternoon during East Belmont v Leopold. Should GCA sanction them?!?!?
